Three extraordinary Saab 900 on Bilweb Auctions

There seems to be a never ending interest in classic Saabs and new price records are set year by year. Currently there are three very special examples of the1980s success, the Saab 900, on Bilweb Auction´s second listing in July.

First one out is the ”Superswede” of the Eighties, a 900 Aero T16 from 1987. It has been in the same family since new and driven only 47 000 kilometers. In 2001 it was put in a garage and has stayed there since then, brought out just recently for the upcoming auction. The owner has been very caring about his car. Immediately after the purchase he had tailor-made seat covers sewn and protected the floor mats with plastic - non of them removed until now, revealing an interior in perfect original condition.

The car has been cleaned and polish after the 22 year long storage, revealing a small dent on one of the doors and two on the roof, all of them most likely to be straightened out without damaging the paint. The corners of the front bumper has a few scratches as well. Nevertheless, this 900 Aero T16 is an unique car with its untouched condition and very low milage.

Is has been valued by Bilweb Auctions to between 220 000 and 240 000 SEK.

In the mid-eighties, Saab was the world’s biggest manufacturer of turbo cars. Therefore it is no surprise that also auction car number two has a turbo charger under the hood. This time, however, it is a 900 T8 Special. The ”T8” reveals that it has an 8 valve engine instead of big brothers 16, resulting in 140 horse power instead of 175. But what makes this car special is that it is - a Special. One of 805 made of the 900 T8 for the Swedish market this year, 1989. A Special had the same level of equipment, the same design and the same chassis as an 900 Aero T16. The car in the auction has covered only 103 000 kilometers, is in absolute original condition and has never been repaired or welded.

It is valued to between 190 000 and 210 000 SEK.

Saab 900 number three in the auction is one of the last made before the production ended in April 1993 - number 15 from the end. This 900i comes with a normally aspirated, 2.1 litre, engine that produces 140 horsepower. It have had the same owner since 2008 and has been driven very sparingly since then. The owner is an experienced Saab mechanic who recently gave the car an extensive service after a long stand still. The odometer shows just over 150 000 kilometers, but given the almost perfect condition, that number could have been significantly lower.

This 900i is valued at between 80 00 and 100 000 SEK.
