Cosworth is one of the most significant names in the automotive world, associated with advanced engine technology and high performance. Now a rare Ford Escort RS Cosworth is up for bidding on Bilweb Auctions.
If you have seen an Escort RS Cosworth in real life, you probably won’t forget it. It is the enormous rear spoiler that stays in your mind and has become a signature for the model.
But this very special Escort is something much more, developed mainly to be made in 2 500 examples for homologation in the WRC - World Rally Championship. Basically it was a Sierra Cosworth shoehorned into a smaller Escort costume.
The result was a competition Escort thad had only the roof and the passenger doors in common with and ordinary Escort and 17,5 centimeters longer. Add four wheel drive and a longitudinal turbo 2-litre engine with an output of 277 horse power. Top speed 240 km/h, 0-100 in 6,1 seconds.

7 145 RS Cosworth were made from 1992 up until 1996. During these years the rally version won 8 WRC races, with, among others, Tommi Makinen from Finland and Carlos Sainz from Spain behind the wheel.
The RS Cosworth now for sale on Bilweb Auctions is a model year 1993, there by manufactured water the 2 500 homologation cars. It was originally sold in Germany and then imported to Sweden in 2001. Since then, a big amount of money has been invested in the car and the list of tuning measures is as long as the price tag is high.
The result is a power output of around 380 horse power in a 1275 kg car, creating an outstanding driving experience.
The auctions closes on 24 November and Bilweb Auctions has estimated the value of the car to between 440 000 and 480 000 SEK.
