Built for racing: Christer Glenning´s 1962 Volvo PV Sport on auction

A Volvo PV 544 Sport, built for touring car racing, is one of the highlights at Bilweb Auction´s final September listing. It was built for the track by one of Sweden’s most renowned automotive journalists, Christer Glenning.

This is an exciting object for those who want to get into history racing. The car was driven during 23 years by another Swedish high profile automotive writer, Marianne Sterner. She was test editor at Vi Bilagare and a long time member of the European Car of the Year jury. Moreover, Sterner was active on the Swedish rally scene, as a driver but mainly as a co driver for, among others, Susanne Kottulinsky. This red PV Sport was given to her by her parents in her early Twenties and it was, as she put it, ”enough tuned”. It was used both as a daily driver and on the rally roads.

In 1994 another Swedish automotive media profile took over the car, Christer Glenning. Most Swedes associates him with the tv show ”Trafikmagasinet” , to which he contributed during 20 years. Glenning restored the PV Sport during 1995 and turned it into a historic racing car. It got a FIA certificate and log book for racing in a number of classes.

It is a pronounced racing car without passenger and rear seats, no mats or roof lining, but with a safety cage, racing seat and a fuel cell in the trunk.

Now this classic Volvo PV Sport waits for a new owner that can do the necessary upgrades and bring it to where it belongs - the racing tracks.

The estimated value of the car is between 260 and 290 000 SEK and the auction ends on 29 September.
