Early P1800 awoke after 40 years of slumber

A 1961 Volvo P1800 has been sleeping in a garage in Sjömarken, just outside Borås, for more than 40 years. The car has now been brought back to life and is in a running and driving condition, and it will be auctioned off soon.

Throughout the years, this old P1800 has only been owned by a husband and his wife. In 1978, the car was placed in a garage for restoration, and it was repainted in the 1980s. The car was slowly rebuilt “probably the world’s longest renovation” after repainting and allowed to stay in the same garage.

The car has now been inherited by the owner's grandchildren, who have decided to sell it at auction.

- The chassis number 646 indicates that it is an early Jensen vehicle. Except for an emblem on the hood and a chrome trim on the door the car is complete. It now requires some tender loving care as well as a thorough brake overhaul. According to Michael Luft, responsible for Bilweb Auctions, the sleeping beauty is worth between SEK 160,000 and SEK 200,000.
