The cheeky ducktail wing, the slightly provocative Carrera decals, and the wide rear fenders definitely do not give the impression of a car in the service of the state.
But it started just as such: in July 1971, this 911 T was registered with a Gothenburg plate - OA 61943 - and began patrolling the major roads on the west coast. As early as 1965, the National Police Board started purchasing Porsches primarily for traffic monitoring, and by 1974, they had acquired 22 of them.
Our car also served in Halmstad before being sold to a private individual in 1975. Like many other 911s at the time, it was converted to a sportier style. During 2020 and 2021, it received its current look: a modification to resemble a 911 RSR 2.8 from the 1970s. The RSR was a pure racing variant of the Carrera RS manufactured between 1973 and 1975. Our former public servant has had its original 2.2-liter six-cylinder engine replaced with a larger 2.4-liter one. It has recently been optimized on a rolling road and received extensive servicing from Porsche specialist Rolf “Myggan” Nilsson in Tomelilla. A pair of Recaro replica seats with a vintage look have recently been installed, as well as Fuchs wheels shod with period-correct Michelin Classic Racing tires.
“Fun and a bit mischievously usable in a dignified and stylish condition, the owner has taken care of a converted seventies car in a pleasant and tasteful way,” notes Bilweb Auctions’ inspector Peter Sundfeldt.
This Porsche 911 is valued between 650,000 and 700,000 SEK. The auction is ongoing and ends on May 30.
