A 1965 Ford Mustang, homologated by FIA for historic racing, is one of the top cars on the second auction in February by Bilweb Auctions.
It was originally built in Metuchen, New Jersey, one of three Mustang plants needed to keep up with the huge demand after the launch in 1964. When it rolled out from the assembly line it had the base straight six engine and a manual gearbox.
Eventually it found its way to Sweden and was in 2017 rebuilt for historic racing by a skilled racing enthusiast. The straight six was replaced by another Mustang engine, the 289 cui V8. It was tuned according to the regulations and develops approximately 340 horse power. Obviously it was also equipped with all the safety details required: safety cage, safety petrol tank, main switch, fire extinguisher system etc.
After the build, the Mustang has been driven in six races, the most recent in 2021.
To race in an American car from the Sixties is something completely different from doing it in an contemporary European car. The size, the authority, the sound from the V8, all this adds to a powerful experience with adrenaline running high.
The chance to fulfill your racing dreams is there until 16 February, when the auction closes.
The value of this racing Mustang is estimated by Bilweb Auctions to between 330 000 and 360 000 SEK
