In 2006, SAAB celebrated twenty years of successful convertible sales by introducing a striking anniversary model named the “20th Anniversary Edition.”
Saab’s winter-ready four-seater convertible was introduced in 1986. The first year, it was produced in a limited series of only 400 units, exclusively for the U.S. market, equipped with a 175 hp turbo engine. The model became an instant success! Already the following year, the Saab Convertible entered full global production.
By 2006, with 240,000 units sold, SAAB launched the “9-3 Convertible 20th Anniversary Edition” to commemorate its success. The anniversary model was available in Vector or Aero trim, featuring a unique metallic Electric Blue paint and a sporty interior in cream-colored leather with blue decorative stitching. Engine options included the 1.9 TID diesel engine with 150 hp, as well as gasoline engines with 150, 175, 210, or 230 hp. The top version featured a 250 hp 2.8-liter V6 turbo engine and a sport-tuned chassis, which was otherwise exclusive to the Aero version.
The car now for sale is precisely this top-of-the-line Aero model, equipped with the 2.8T V6 engine producing 250 hp, and has only been driven 44,000 km.
