Classic look - upgraded mechanics: Alfa Romeo GT Junior ”Bertone” on Bilweb Auctions

This Alfa Romeo should probably be categorized as a  ”restomod” - an older car that has been restored and at the same time modified. And with an end result that performs better than what originally rolled out from the factory.

The car started its life in Sweden in 1975 as a GT 1600 Junior. The beautiful design, however, originates from the early Sixties, when  the design studio Bertone in Turin assigned a young Giorgetto Giugario to create sporty 2-door coupe.

It turned out to be one of the true classics in car history.

Our auction car was given a body and paint restoration ten years ago, where the original color Francia Blue was kept.

Then it was subject to a comprehensive mechanical upgrade by to Alfa specialists in Trelleborg in Southern Sweden 4Bar Performance and 1900 Garaget.

The original 1600 engine was replaced with a 2-litre Twin Spark unit from an Alfa 75 which was restored and mildly tuned to 128 horse power. The engine bay has been very tastefully arranged and provides a feeling of a factory installation.

The Junior was lowered, the brakes upgraded with 4-piston calipers, a GTA safety cage installed as well as beautiful GTA Veloce wheels. And a lot more. The total cost for the restoration was approximately 500 000 SEK.

The project was finished in 2020 and now it is time for a new owner to take over. An iconic classic that, from the outside, looks totally original but discreetly has been modified in order to match more modern cars.

Bilweb Auctions has valued this exciting Alfa at between 350 000 and 380 000 SEK.
