New record prices for classic vehicles

A Volvo Amazon, a Opel Kadett Rallye and a Massey Ferguson tractor - these were the three collectors items that generated record prices in Bilweb Auction´s first June auction.

The two-tone red and white Amazon from the first production year, 1957, went for 360 000 SEK, supposedly the highest price ever paid in Sweden for the Volvo classic. Professionally restored to mint condition, it is undoubtedly one of the best existing examples of Jan Wilsgaards creation from the Fifties. All the hard-to-find details that were unique for model year 1957 are in place.

A top class restoration of a 1969 Opel Kadett Rally, upgraded to Sprint status with the big 1900 engine, also set a new price record for the iconic ”Rally Kadetts”: 355 000 SEK. The fact that the car is built to meet the 1970 Group 1 rally specifications was most probably very important for the winning bidder.

The growing interest in and love for classic tractors was proven by a Massey Ferguson TE-D 20 from 1954. 100 000 SEK is a new price record in Sweden for this old farm hero, restored to as-new condition.

-    It is obvious that buyers are willing to pay premium for object that are restored to a high and correct standard. They understand that the time and money spent in the restoration process justifies the price. The web auction as an important trading place for classic vehicles is now definitely established, creating record prices,  says Michael Luft at Bilweb Auctions.

The next auction is now live and count down is on 16 and 17 June. No less than 104 vehicles will be sold, hence the need for two auction days.
