Porsche is well-known for producing excellent sports cars. However, it is less well known that tractors with the same name have also been built. Three highly sought-after Porsche tractors will be auctioned off this week on bilwebauctions.se.
There are exclusive collectors devoted entirely to classic Porsche cars. Some models are in high demand, and prices have skyrocketed. The pressure is not nearly as intense when it comes to tractors. However, prices are beginning to rise rapidly.
In general, tractors are a significantly less expensive hobby for collectors than cars. "Porsche tractors, on the other hand, can be worth up to ten times more than tractors from other brands with similar models and age. Collectors like Porsche's technology, which includes easy-to-drive air-cooled engines and attractive design, in addition to the brand, according to Michael Luft, head of Bilweb Auctions."
The three classic Porsche tractors on next weeks auction is a Junior, Allgaier AP17 and a Super – all worth around 400,000 SEK each.

Historical Background
Ferdinand Porsche created his first tractor over a century ago, which eventually led to the development of Porsche-diesel, which peaked in the 1950s. The German government commissioned Ferdinand Porsche to design a modern and simple-to-drive tractor as early as 1937. The goal was to simplify agriculture by offering a low-cost "people's tractor" in large quantities. A new factory was built in Zuffenhausen (where Porsche cars are still manufactured today), and the prototypes were completed in 1938. Then came the Second World War, and the factory was destroyed. In 1946, work was resumed at the temporary Porsche factory in Gmünd, Austria. Allgaier built Porsche tractors in Friedrichshafen and the factory was renamed Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau in 1956. Tractor legends were born here, beginning with the single-cylinder Junior and progressing to the four-cylinder Master until production ceased in 1963. During the same time period, 120,000 Porsche tractors were produced, while 75,000 Porsche 356 sports cars were produced. Today Porsche 356 cars outnumber tractors in terms of preservation. As a result, Porsche-Diesel collectibles are highly sought after all over the world.
