A unique light blue Volvo P1800 ES from 1972 has undergone a renovation for over one million SEK. The car is now in a developed new condition with a modern driveline and a tuned B20 engine of 240 hp. It is now being sold at a charity auction.
- This is the absolute finest, fastest and approved P1800ES we have ever encountered. The car has been developed into a potent modern sports car but with a classic body, says Michael Luff, responsible for Bilweb Auctions.
This P1800 was sold in new California and imported back to Sweden after 26 years. It was first renovated in 2016–2017 to new condition. This renovation was based on a completely clean sand-blasted body where everything that was available for purchase or could be replaced has been replaced with new or newly manufactured parts in the original version. When the car was ready and driven one summer, the owner also wanted modern sports car performance. This was done in 2017–2018 via a specially built B20 engine of 2.4 liters and 240 hp, a new five-speed gearbox, diffed rear axle, reinforced brakes and chassis. Receipts from that renovation amount to more than one million SEK.
The renovation was professionally carried out by the workshop at HRM-bil in Lidköping; they had free hands to build the best without any fixed budget
The auction of the car ends with a countdown on Saturday September 5 at 21.00. The proceeds go to charity for children.
