A Saab 900 Aero T16 in original and perfect condition, one owner, 29 000 kilometers.
Such a car should not exist. Yet it does and is one of the stars on March Auction #1 2022.
Aero T16 is undisputedly most sought-after Saab 900 model - maybe the most desirable of all Saab models. It was launched in 1984 and available as a 3-door coupe only. Saab´s head of design, Bjorn Envall, wanted big plastic panel along the sides and a bigger front spoiler to distinguish it from an ordinary 900 Turbo. And the model name Aero was of course chosen to put emphasis on the brands aeronautical heritage. The 4-cylinder, 2-litre, 16 valve engine got hemispherical combustion chambers and developed 175 horsepower, 0-100 km/h was reached in 8,7 seconds. Turbo lag included.
In January 1987 a black 900 Aero T16 was delivered to its new owner at a Saab dealer in Tyreso outside Stockholm. The buyer, who payed just over 143 000 SEK, roughly 15 000 Euro, still owns the car today, 35 years later. But now he has decided to sell his beloved Saab.
During these 35 years, the car has covered only 29 000 kilometers, an incredible average of 830 kilometer per year.
The extremely low milage is reflected in the condition of the car: a completely rust-free body, a spotless interior and an immaculate engine bay with all the original stickers in place. The spacious luggage compartment seems to never have been used.
An extensive documentation comes with the car, including the receipt for the long list of original Saab accessories the owner purchased: three extra meters, cassette box, wind deflector for the sunroof and much more.
Saab 900 Aero T16 is a Superswede with extraordinary character, especially in the unique condition of the auctioned car.
Bilweb Auctions has estimated the value to between 200 000 and 250 000 SEK. The bidding starts March 3 and ends March 10.
