Jaguar E-Type 4,2 Cabriolet — 1967

A legendary style icon in a beautifully restored form. Stripped down to the frame and rebuilt by a well-renowned restoration company. It was built with the intention of being used as a classic racing car, which never came to be. An incredibly tight and potent Jaguar in top condition.

"A dream car for many. Everything in the car feels like new. Engine, gearbox, and chassis in absolute harmony."

Description

This car has been fully restored by Competition Motors AB in Ålunda. It is built according to the 1967 racing specification and has been renovated from top to bottom. A special crankshaft increases displacement to 4.5 liters. Instead of the original SUs, it now runs on three Weber 48 carburetors. The cylinder head has been reworked along with upgraded camshafts. Extractor manifold and a larger exhaust system give the car an absolutely magical sound. Engine oil cooler fitted. Equipped with special wire wheels, 7x15". Engine output is 340 hp with enormous torque. A 5-speed ZF gearbox ensures revs drop to a comfortable level. Newly upholstered interior in the original color. No damage detected. The restoration was carried out between 1999–2000. The current owner, a well-known figure in vintage car circles, has owned the car since the restoration.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine runs smoothly and pulls wonderfully through all gears. The stiffened suspension gives the impression of a much newer car. Torsion bar suspension and springs. This cannot be compared to a standard E-type. The wide wheels also contribute to the fantastic handling. All instruments are fully functional except for the clock. Brakes, master cylinder, and slave cylinder have been replaced by the current owner. New handbrake cables. Fine wire wheels fitted with BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235/60-15 tires.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is like new in every detail. The restored leather seats are like works of art at their finest. Considering the car’s performance, 4-point harnesses are fitted. The soft top stretches out beautifully without the slightest crease. Nice luggage compartment with a wire-spoke spare wheel.

  • Exterior condition:

Shiny and beautiful in both paint and chrome. Two fat exhaust pipes hint that this car has something special. And once you turn the key, you’re stunned by the gorgeous rumble. The soft top is in like-new condition. A new windshield has been fitted by the current owner.

  • General condition:

An astonishingly beautiful car. Wonderful road manners where you immediately notice a significant difference compared to a standard Jaguar. A car that is guaranteed to take a top spot at any Concours d’Elegance it enters.

Facts about the model

The Jaguar E-Type, often called the Jaguar XK-E in North America, is a British sports car first introduced in 1961 and renowned for its stunning design and performance. The 1967 E-Type Cabriolet holds a particularly important place in its history for several reasons:

The E-Type was designed by Malcolm Sayer, whose aerodynamic shape and elegant lines were revolutionary at the time. The 1967 model continued this tradition with its long bonnet and short rear, embodying the classic sports car aesthetic.

The 1967 E-Type Cabriolet was equipped with a 4.2-liter engine producing 265 horsepower. This allowed the car to reach speeds of up to 240 km/h, making it one of the fastest production cars of its era.

The 1967 model introduced several upgrades over earlier versions, including a more comfortable interior, improved suspension, and a fully synchronized gearbox. These refinements made the car more user-friendly while retaining its performance edge.

The Cabriolet version of the E-Type offered the thrill of open-top driving, appealing to enthusiasts seeking the excitement of driving with the wind in their hair. The soft top could be easily raised and lowered, enhancing the car’s versatility.

The E-Type quickly became a cultural icon, admired by car enthusiasts and celebrities alike. Enzo Ferrari famously described it as “the most beautiful car ever made.” Its appearances in films and media further cemented its place in automotive history.

Today, the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Cabriolet is regarded as a highly sought-after collector’s car, with well-preserved examples commanding high prices at auction. The combination of style, performance, and historical significance makes it a coveted classic.

In summary, the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Cabriolet represents a beautiful blend of design and engineering, making it a true milestone in automotive history.
