Description
I have known the owners—a husband and wife—for the past 5+ years. They are true enthusiasts with a love for British cars. The car was purchased by the wife in 1997 and has been used sparingly, mainly for summer drives, local events, and classic car shows.
In recent years, it has seen very limited use (over the past 5+ years), mainly due to age and health, but it has been regularly started and kept in a warm garage. I am also in contact with the mechanic who has serviced and maintained the car for over 20 years.
In 2014, the car underwent more extensive mechanical work, including engine removal. The timing chain and tensioner were replaced, along with new engine mounts. The brake system was fully reviewed with new cylinders fitted, and the clutch was also replaced. At the same time, hoses and pipework were renewed as needed before the engine was refitted. Since then, it has only received routine servicing.

Mechanical condition
I drove the car a short distance. It starts easily and the engine runs smoothly and steadily with no unusual noises. The gearbox selects gears well, and the brakes function as they should. The engine bay is exceptionally clean and well presented—this 1950s unit looks more like a piece of artwork than an engine.
We noted a oil drip while parked, likely from the sump gasket. These older cork gaskets can dry out over time and begin to leak. Given that the car has seen very little use over the past 5+ years, a general service and inspection are recommended before regular driving. Inspection exempt forever. -
Interior condition
Wonderful red interior with matching leather seats, panels, and door cards, all in excellent, undamaged condition, complemented by red carpets throughout. Upper door trims and dashboard are finished in wood and present very well. The car retains its original gauges and instrumentation, along with a nice three-spoke steering wheel. Rear passenger courtesy lights are currently not fitted but are included with the car. Headliner in the convertible roof is also in well-kept condition. Overall, a truly enjoyable place to sit and appreciate the charm of the 1950s.
-
Exterior condition
Very well presented throughout, with straight body panels and no damage or rust issues, and the underbody is equally clean and solid. Paintwork is bright and well maintained, with only a few small stone chips around the front wings, otherwise nothing to report. Chrome work and trim are in good, shiny condition. The convertible roof is free from damage and fits well, though it may take a few attempts to master raising and lowering it. A routine clean and polish would enhance the overall presentation even further.
-
General condition
This car oozes charm and character and will attract plenty of attention wherever you go. It’s ready to be driven and enjoyed this summer after a routine review and service.
