"A striking GT car with distinctive design, featuring a hatchback-style rear that makes it an excellent long-distance companion for two, with generous luggage space when the rear seats are folded—something of a shooting brake. Ideal for golf bags, sporting or hunting gear, or even ample room for a Lagotto in the back, if desired. Finished here in classic Alfa Rosso with matching interior. Overall in fine condition and a truly enjoyable driver."

Description

This car was reportedly imported to Sweden from Denmark and registered for road use here on January 5, 2016. The current owner, a car enthusiast, acquired it on October 28, 2016, when it had covered approximately 125,000 km. The odometer now reads 158,310 km.

It has served both as a daily driver and an enthusiast car, as well as being one of several classics in the owner’s garage. It has been used during the brighter months of the year and has received the necessary service and care. Following some clear coat failure, the car was repainted a few years ago.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts easily and the engine feels lively. During a short test drive on smaller country roads, everything—from steering, clutch, and gearbox to handling and brakes—was experienced as functioning well. A fun car to drive.

Not inspected on a lift, but what could be seen appeared to be in good condition. No remarks from inspection.

  • Interior condition

Pleasant interior in original specification with a sporty feel. The headliner, door panels, trim, and carpets are in good condition. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are also in good condition and function well. The air conditioning blows cold but may benefit from a recharge for optimal performance.

  • Exterior condition

Attractive, glossy paintwork reapplied in the original color a few years ago following clear coat failure. Glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition and match the refreshed finish well. Nice wheels fitted with good tires. Engine bay and luggage compartment are in good condition.

  • General condition

A fine and versatile sports coupé that, with its design and character, is both bold and practical. Equipped with the 2.2-litre engine, it is light and responsive, offering plenty of driving enjoyment. Presented here in a well-kept and attractive condition, and taken as a whole, it already qualifies as a classic and enthusiast’s car.

Facts about the model

Alfa Romeo is, as is well known, a classic Italian car manufacturer, founded as early as 1910 in Milan. Today, its headquarters are in Turin, and it is part of the Stellantis group.
Over the years, the brand has had a varied history, yet despite this it has produced a large number of classic cars—many of them with distinctly sporting ambitions and character. These have included saloons and estates, but it is primarily the striking coupés, cabriolets, and pure competition cars that have captured the spotlight.
In more modern times, models such as the Bertone coupés, the GTV, and the Spider are especially memorable, all of which featured rear-wheel drive.
For the 1995 model year, however, a new generation of the GTV and Spider was introduced, now with front-wheel drive in a wedge-shaped design by Pininfarina. They were offered with a range of engines, from 1.8-litre four-cylinders up to 3.2-litre V6 units. These were lively cars with excellent handling, not least thanks to a newly developed multi-link rear suspension. The GTV was initially produced by Alfa Romeo in Milan, but from 2000 production moved to Pininfarina in Turin. Production ended in 2004, although cars were sold through to the 2006 model year.
The next generation, Brera and Spider (Type 939), was produced from 2005 to 2010 and 2006 to 2010 respectively. The design was created by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, with Pininfarina once again responsible for the final touches on the open Spider version. In addition to front-wheel drive, the cars were also available with all-wheel drive (Torsen system). Engine options ranged from four- to six-cylinder units, along with a couple of diesel alternatives. As an interesting detail, the V6 engine had its roots in GM’s Holden division in Australia and was used in brands such as Saab and Alfa Romeo, albeit with partly bespoke engineering solutions.
In total, approximately 34,274 examples were produced, of which 21,786 were the fixed-roof Brera coupé.
