"En femtiotalskonstruktion i en snygg och tidlös form som hänger med fint i dagens stads- och landvägstrafik"

Description

The scooter was originally sold in the Hudiksvall area and remained there for many years. The first owner had it repainted in its current white color in the mid-1960s. He admired the snow-white finish of the GS 160, successor to the GS 150, and decided to repaint it from its original gray-green metallic shade. The scooter was used for everyday transportation in the area well into the 1980s. The current owner purchased it in 2007. In 2011, the bike underwent a technical restoration and upgrade. That same year, it was registered and participated in the Vespa World Days in Gjøvik, Norway, and has since been resting. The current owner has several scooter projects that require time, maintenance, and are used with enthusiasm. The latest and final approved inspection was completed on 2025-04-22.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It starts easily when the fuel and ignition are properly set. An older Vespa with its original carburetor requires a knowledgeable owner who understands how and when to operate the fuel tap. The new owner will receive instructions from the current owner on this scooter’s specific quirks. In 2011, it was fitted with a new crankshaft, and all seals and bearings were replaced. Additionally, a Vespatronic electronic ignition system was installed—an important upgrade for improved reliability.

  • Interior condition:

Reupholstered seat in genuine leather. It needs occasional conditioning and sometimes protection from rain. Original grips with normal wear for its age.

  • Exterior condition:

The scooter has a used exterior with an older paint job from the 1960s. There are scratches, marks, and some surface rust here and there from normal use, but most importantly, the floor and its reinforcement ribs are solid and in good condition. A classic Piaggio Vespa features a self-supporting frame design, and the floor is a vital structural component.

  • General condition:

A charming classic scooter with a rugged, well-used exterior and solid, reliable mechanical condition.

Facts about the model

All Piaggio scooters made before 1958 can be defined by that epithet. After 1958, all of Piaggio’s large Vespa scooters are considered “large frame” models—ranging from the Popolino, 150GL, and GS 160 to the final PX125/150/200 models, right up until 2017. However, as an exception, the sporty GS 150 (a “wideframe”) continued production until 1961. Naturally, the term “smallframe” also exists, referring to a more compact design that includes moped scooters and lighter bikes in the 90–125cc range. Most GS 150s sold in Sweden in 1962 were designated as model year 1962, even though Piaggio classified them as 1961 models.
