A classic little roadster, in an equally classic color combination from the time when pop music, Carnaby Street, and small sports cars from England were in fashion.

Description

The car was originally sold in the USA and imported to Sweden via the Netherlands in June 2006. It has a speedometer with a kilometer scale and an odometer in miles. At the time of import/purchase in Sweden, it had 23 440 miles on the odometer, and now it has 32 888 miles, likely having gone through one full rotation. The current owner (the second owner in Sweden) has owned and used the car since July 2008. The car has undergone restoration, including rust repairs, new floor panels, sanding, and repainting. It has a new interior, carpets, and side panels. The engine has been renovated, and a new heating system has been installed (fan not connected). The clutch cylinder has been replaced, and the master brake cylinder has been refurbished. The driver's seat has been reupholstered, and a new convertible top (15 years old) has been installed. It has a new starter motor and battery, one ball joint has been replaced, and the other comes as a spare. Pictures of the restoration (on CD) and receipts are included.

The current owner is now passing it on to the next owner as he, as a newly turned 80-year-old, has purchased a more modern sports car.

Started easily and performed excellently in terms of engine and drivetrain. Felt stable and had good speed resources. Many parts have been replaced and the car has received regular maintenance with oil changes, etc.

  • Interior condition:

Nice interior with visible patina. Includes a 'wind deflector'

  • Exterior condition:

New paint job nearly 20 years ago, still glossy and in good condition. There are some minor scratches and scuffs. The chrome and glass are in great shape. Some patina on the wire wheels, but the tires are in good condition. The convertible top is in good shape, and a top cover is included.

  • General condition:

Overall, it is a pleasant and usable MGB with a nice color combination and the right details. There are some areas that can be improved, but at the same time, it is a 'turn-key' car ready to enjoy the summer.

Facts about the model

In the late 1950s, the project for the MGB was initiated as a successor to the MGA. In September 1962, the new roadster was unveiled and received positive feedback from both the automotive press and buyers. The 1798 cc engine with dual SU carburetors provided excellent performance. The gearbox was four-speed, but buyers had the option to add an electric overdrive for a modest additional cost.

From 1965, the technology was improved with a five-bearing crankshaft, an oil cooler as standard, and an electric tachometer. Two years later, a six-cylinder engine was also made available for the small car, both in convertible and coupe versions.

For the 1970 model year, the radiator received a new appearance, and aluminum wheels from Rostyle replaced the steel wheels. Wire wheels were always available as an option throughout the years.

The model even had the opportunity to be equipped with a V8 engine from Rover. Production continued until 1981. Later variants were produced, and it is still possible to essentially build a new car today. Newly manufactured bodies and various parts are readily available. This is a beloved and cherished model that never goes out of style.
