"Having owned a few Escorts in my youth, driving this one is like stepping back in time—only now with more than twice the horsepower. It’s a true driver’s car, purpose-built for enjoyable summer drives on the road, but equally capable of performing on occasional track days."

Description

This is a Swedish-sold car, originally delivered in 1975 as a standard Escort. The current owner purchased it in 2020 with the vision of creating something truly special. The build became a three-year project, extended mainly due to COVID-related delays and shipping challenges from the UK.

Since completion, the car has only been driven locally—covering a total of just 377 km—meaning everything is now properly run in. It’s an easy and fun car to drive, built as a potent road car rather than a stripped-down racer. No roll cage or racing seats—just classic performance with everyday usability.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily with a stable, smooth-running engine. Like all tuned engines, it should be properly warmed up before pushing the throttle. The driving experience is well-balanced, with precise gear shifts, solid brakes, and responsive handling—no unusual noises. Equipped with good alloy wheels and newer tires. Fitted with three additional gauges for temperature, oil pressure, and oil temperature. Recently inspected and now inspection-exempt for life—ready to be enjoyed.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is clean and tidy, featuring standard seats with headrests in good condition—only a small tear on the driver’s seat (see pictures). Fitted with a Momo steering wheel and a Mexico logo on the dashboard. Carpets, door cards, dashboard, headliner, and instrumentation are all in good shape.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is remarkably good for an Escort, with straight panels overall. There’s a small dent on the rear right panel near the boot, along with a few minor dents on the wheel arch and near the rear bumper. A rust blister is visible on the lower section of the right rear wing. At some point, the car received a rust protection treatment. The underbody is clean and tidy, showing signs of older welding on the floor and some areas in the boot’s inner wing. The paintwork is presentable with a few marks and touch-ups (see pictures).

  • General condition:

A dream car for most petrolheads, it’s the kind of machine that will leave plenty of others standing at the traffic lights. You can enjoy it just as it is for years to come—the cosmetic imperfections are minor and can be addressed over time if desired. It would also make an excellent base for a track car build, should you choose to take it in that direction.
