"A turnkey classic in very good condition."

Description

This Cooper is being auctioned on behalf of the owners estate. The Mini Cooper was renovated by the previous owner in the early 2000s. The car was in a rather sad condition when it was acquired, but this was nothing to deter him as he worked as bodywork specialist. A lot of the bodywork was replaced and straightened. The engine was stripped down to its components and what needed to be fixed was fixed. With the renovation, it got a sharper camshaft, a Kent MD 276. The brakes are also upgraded to Cooper S standard. 7.5-inch front brake discs with larger callipers adapted for the discs. At the rear, it is equipped with S-brake drums with an inch widening.

To be able to do this manoeuvre quickly and easily, a leather-covered sports steering wheel from the brand MotoLita has replaced the narrow and slippery bakelite steering wheel. The car has also been equipped with a period-typical tachometer. The Minilite brand alloy wheels have the correct offset for the Cooper S's brake package. The car is converted from Hydrolastic suspension to dry rubber suspension.

The car is leaking a little oil and the owner had intended to lift out the engine this winter and fix the problem. Unfortunately, the owner passed away last fall so this was never done.

The difference from an original Cooper 998 is

The S brakes, the wheels, the dry suspension and the white roof that should be black. These things can be restored without too much intervention. The car has matching numbers, se photo of heritage certificate.

The trophies in the pictures belong to the car and are included.

Facts about the model
