"A small Chevrolet with plenty of potential."

Description

The car is in good exterior condition. According to the owner, the paint is three years old and in decent condition — not perfect, but presentable. This summer, the paint received a professional treatment at Enköping Bilvård, an investment of 7,000 SEK. It sits gleaming in the garage, featuring a black/grey interior that complements the overall look.

According to the owner, the engine has covered only approximately 5,000 km since it was built/rebuilt. It is a 350 small block, bored .060 over, fitted with forged TRW high-compression pistons and Edelbrock E-Street cylinder heads with 70 cc combustion chambers and 185 cc intake runners. With a Corvette camshaft and proper tuning, it reportedly produced 417 horsepower on a rolling road. I have not seen the dyno sheet, so this cannot be verified.

Behind this powerhouse sits a rebuilt Turbo-Hydramatic 350 with a shift kit, built by Jack Hymander. According to the owner, the transmission shifts firmly and decisively, as it should. At the time of inspection, the car was not test-driven on the road due to weather conditions and because it was deregistered.

The rear axle has a 3.42 gear ratio and a new differential — a combination that provides both strong acceleration and comfortable highway cruising. The original differential is included (see photo). Various documentation is also included, along with some older inspection reports.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine was started and runs smoothly at idle. The car was only driven just outside the garage entrance.

A significant amount of wiring and electrical cabling is hanging loose. The stereo is not properly mounted and does not work, and the subwoofer in the trunk is also non-functional. There are cut wires present.

The power windows operate intermittently. The passenger seat is loose, and there is no glove compartment insert behind the lid. There is a stain on the garage floor beneath the engine — the cause of this is unknown.

Overall, quite a bit needs to be looked over and addressed.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in a condition that will require some work to get it back in order. A lot is visible in the photos, so please review them carefully.

  • Exterior condition:

Glossy paint in good condition — not show quality, but very nice.

The chrome trim has some pitting. The undercarriage appears to be in good condition.

  • General condition:

A car in improvable condition — just the kind of project that appeals to someone ready to take it to the next level.

It is running and approved at the vehicle inspection.

Facts about the model

The Chevrolet Nova was manufactured from 1962 to 1979. The model years 1962–1965 are referred to as Generation 1; 1966–1967 as Generation 2; 1968–1974 as Generation 3; and 1975–1979 as Generation 4.

The model was available with several engine options, the largest being a 396 cubic inch (6.42-liter) V8. In 1970, the engine was increased to 402 cubic inches (6.58 liters), although the model designation 396 (SS 396) was retained.

In 1969, a number of Novas were modified by the legendary Don Yenko. The cars that passed through his hands received a 427 cubic inch (7.00-liter) V8 from the Camaro and Chevelle under the hood. There were also other dealers who upgraded their cars for sale. One of the companies offering some of the largest engines was Baldwin Motion; these cars could be delivered with an upgraded 454 LS6 producing around 600 horsepower.

Between 1985 and 1988, the Toyota Sprinter was also sold in the United States under the name Chevrolet Nova. However, these models have nothing to do with the Nova’s original lineage.
