Description
This PV is among the last 100 that were manufactured and sold new in December 1965 in Lidköping, where it lived its life for 30 years. In 1995 the car was stored in dry garage where it’s stood until 2010, when it was bought by a workshop in Ljungskile. The renovation work started later than planned but gained momentum when the current owner and the workshop started a joint venture. The car was dismantled and the body was repainted in 2018. All wear parts and moldings. were replaced together with carpets and headliner. Brakes were refurbished and the gearbox checked. A thorough renovation of the engine included replacement camshaft bearings, cam gear, valve lifters and gaskets etc. The engine was also equipped with a D-cam and dual S-U carburetors (like the sports model) which produces about 90-100 hp. The remaining original chrome bumpers and seats were refitted since they were in a nice condition. In May 2020, the car was completely renovated and inspected and driven during the summer. The mileage now stands at 6900km which relates to 106,000km and considering the interior condition matches well.

The car feels strong and stable with good brakes and runs beautifully.

Interior condition
Nice and complete with new chrome moldings, carpet and headliner. It’s fitted with seat covers and underneath has the nice and complete original upholstery.

Very nice paint work with good chrome, the original bumpers have a few pits. New 5.5 inch sports wheels.

General condition
One of the better and fresher PV we've seen. It’s a great collector’s car, where everything works apart for the trip meter. Since it is built on the penultimate day of production every Volvo enthusiast needs this one.

Volvo PV 544 tillverkades mellan 1958 och 1965. PV 544 bygger på samma kaross från föregående modell PV 444 men är en mer modern version. Den moderna PV 544 fick större framruta och bakruta och bättre motorer och andra lampor mm. Baksätet blev även större och framstolarna blev tunnare vilket ökade benutrymmet med 6 cm i baksätet.
Det tillverkades mellan 1958 och 1965 totalt 243 996 st Volvo PV och 7 olika modeller av PV 544. PV 544 A, B, C, D, E, F och G. 544 modellen var utrustad med B16 och B20 motorer och det fanns tre olika växellådor. Knappt 5% av bilarna byggdes som Sportmodell (toppmodellen) och de flesta av dessa gick på export till USA. De sista åren var grafitgrå en ev de mest populära färgerna, tillsammans med pärlvit. Under 1965 gjordes en rad förbättringar och detta utförande kallades för G-modellen. Produktionen upphörde i oktober 1965 och de som byggdes efter semestern 1965 och fram till denna tid var av årsmodell 1966 och antalet var 3.401 bilar. Produktionen upphörde för att ge plats för Volvo 144, som premiärvisats hösten 1965.
