Volkswagen Typ 2 Kleinbus T1 1500 — 1966

Even though it's an old and rusted "patina queen," it's still a vehicle worth preserving. Complete and undamaged. The bus is a good year model with all new body panels readily available.

"For several years, the bus has been out of service. Rust in all obvious places, but because it is a double door, it has a double floor, and the inner floor appears to be in ok. It's a fun restoration project for a VW enthusiast looking for a cool bus."

Description

This item is being sold as a renovation item. Unfortunately, this registration number has vanished from the register, but it can be used to register again. The car is a 1966 T1 double door original with approximately 186,000 km on it. It had the most stunning colour combination when it was new, with dark red at the bottom and grey beige at the top (Titian root L555 and Graubeige L472).
Sven Nilsson, a private individual from Kungsbacka, was the car's first owner until 1975, when it was sold to the previous owner's family in Grums. For four summers, this family built a camping interior, painted the car green, and went on vacations. The car was parked for the winter in the autumn of 1979 and remained in a covered garden until 2020, when Fahlke's VW restoration was contacted for advice. The car was purchased in 2020 by the current owner, who has now decided to sell it. By appointment at Fables in ml, call 0761-022063. The car appears to be complete and needs a complete restoration. The engine is not started, but it can be moved around with tools by hand.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It's not difficult to start the car, but this is a complete renovation project that includes all mechanical components.

  • Interior condition:

    It needs a interior rebuild.

  • Exterior condition:

Look closely at all of the photos; this car requires a lot of sheet metal work.

  • General condition:

Take a close look at the images. It'll take a lot of work to turn this into a car again, but it's a good starting point and well worth the effort if you can do a lot yourself. The renovation journey is part of the fun, and the end result is a timeless classic with a relatively high value and worldwide demand.
