Description
The result was the Volvo 1800 ES, introduced in 1972 and produced for just two model years (1972–1973). The "ES" designation wasn’t officially defined, but is commonly interpreted as Estate Sport or Express Sports.
This particular example has undergone a full restoration, with most components either new or refurbished. No corners were cut, and the result is a Volvo 1800 ES in exceptionally appealing condition. Be sure to study the photos—they speak for themselves. It's rare to come across an ES this fine.
A set of keys is included with the car. No service book.

Mechanical condition
Starts easily and the engine runs smoothly. The drivetrain and brakes are functioning as they should, and the overdrive is also working properly. The tachometer is a bit erratic. No unusual noises from the drivetrain or engine. The radio is not functioning.

Interior condition
The interior is in very good condition. Most components are new, though there is a crack in the right rear seat cushion—see photo. The headliner is clean and in great shape. The floor mat in the right rear footwell shows signs of something having spilled on it—see photos—but otherwise, the mats are in good condition. The dashboard is in excellent condition, and both the engine bay and the luggage compartment are very clean and well-presented.

Exterior condition
Professionally repainted—glossy with a nice sheen without appearing overly polished. There are a few minor paint imperfections beneath the rear side windows (see photos), but they do not detract from the overall impression. The underside of the car is in excellent condition—see photos.

General condition
One of the finest 1800 ES examples I've seen. The restoration is of very high quality, with no corners cut.

Facts about the model
The result was a spacious and practical cargo area, accessible through a distinctive glass tailgate. Both the hinges and the handle were integrated directly into the glass, a feature that made some owners nervous at the time—but it proved to be a highly functional solution.
The 1800 ES was only produced for two model years, 1972 and 1973, with a total of 8,077 units built. Production ended because it would have been too costly to meet the increasingly stringent safety regulations in the U.S.—the car’s primary market, to which around 90 percent of all ES models were exported.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
