Facts about the model

This is the only Volvo 164 that Yngve Nilsson's Karosserifabrik has converted into a luxury wagon. In 1972, Volvo Engineer Sture Levin took a brand new Volvo 164E to Yngve Nilssons in Laholm and let them rebuild the car using body parts for the 145 model. It was not just the question of merging two Volvo models, but the car also got a range of unique body and equipment details.
As new, the car was featured, for example, in the American Road & Track and Volvo's customer magazine "Ratten". In 2008 Fredrik Nyblad, a reporter at the magazine Klassiker, found a photograph taken in 1972 of this car. He tracked down the car and after two years he managed to buy it. Klassiker readers have been able to follow the complete renovation of the car that followed. Among other things, a large amount of metal parts were exchanged and almost everything in the interior. In 2012 the car was completed and fully restored like it was new in the autumn of 1972. The car and the renovation have been fully documented not only by the Klassiker, but many others magazines i.e Germanys "Auto Bild" written and featured the car. There is also a documentary DVD film highlighting the renovation and Fredrik Nyblad published the book "Volvo 165 - The Dream of Luxury Wagon" in 2016, which details the history and the phenomenon of the Volvo 165 - the combination of 164 that Volvo never made. In 2017, the car model car in scale 1:43 was produced by the Schweiziska Editions Atlas.
