Cool car if you want a classic sports car. This is a MK 3 - which means bigger engine and better brakes.

"Really nice English classic sports car that was sold new in Sweden. Older renovation work but in good condition."

Description

This Swedish sold Spitfire has been on display for a few years at Autoseum's museum in Simrishamn. The car goes well and has been re painted in recent years. The cab is complete and is included a rare factory hardtop. This Spitfire is updated with more modern wheels with good tires.
Sporty Triumph Spitfire was actually a Herald with tougher body and dual carburetor. Sold a reasonably priced sports car, this is an Mk III with the higher bumper in front.
This car has rolled in southern Sweden and had the same owner from 1969 to 2011.
Nice use, well-kept copy without serious remarks.

Facts about the model

Italian designer Michelotti who had already penned the Herald was commissioned for the new project, and came up with a traditional, swooping body. Wind-up windows were provided (in contrast to the Sprite/Midget, which still featured side screens, also called curtains, at that time), as well as a single-piece front end which tilted forwards to offer unrivalled access to the engine. At the dawn of the 1960s, however, Standard-Triumph was in deep financial trouble, and unable to put the new car into production; it was not until the company was taken over by the Leyland organization that funds became available and the car was launched. Leyland officials, taking stock of their new acquisition, found Michelotti's prototype hiding under a dust sheet in a corner of the factory and rapidly approved it for production.
The Spitfire was named to honour the World War II fighter plane of the same name.
