"One of the 1960 century's most beautiful sports car icons! In good condition and probably uncleanly renovated!"

Description

Icon number one in the classic sports car world. Jaguar E-Type. This series II came to Sweden 2009 from Oregon in the USA and has in the last three years belonged to a large collection of exclusive cars. Probably never renovated but sometime it has been repainted in original Primrose Yellow, which is now a little sloppy improved. Overall, however, the car is in a nice and honest use condition, and it is obvious that it had the owner who managed it well.
This one has never been rusty. The wheels and the rest of the blanks have traces of age but do not spoil a car in fine working condition. The interior of black leather is neat with fine patina – with just a few details to work on to get really nice. The rear seat has a centimetre of damage to the backrest top, the mat is worn and the original knob has some cracks in the wood but nothing that disturbs. The car was executable when it came to the current owner three years ago, and has since just been restarted sometime a year. Unknown what has been renovated over the years but probably no major errors.
4.2 liter Six is recently started and goes fine, new oil, filter and PIN. No known errors and shortcomings.
The Jaguar E-Type struck down as a bomb when it was presented on the Genéva salons 1961. The body was designed by the aerodynamics-mathematician Malcolm Sayer who came from the aircraft manufacturer Bristol. And certainly, the legacy of the aerospace industry is clearly visible with the karos sides shaped like wings and muzzle most like air intake to a reamotor. The Jaguar E-Type Series II was launched at Earls Court in October 1968 and as its predecessor it was available in three body models – open Roadster, Fixedhead Coupé and 2 + 2 Coupé. Series II was manufactured only between 1968 and 1970 – then replaced by the heavier Series III with V12 engine.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Was useable when it came to the collection three years ago, and has since just been rebooted sometime a year. Unknown what has been renovated over the years but probably no major errors. Recently started and goes nicely, new oil, filters and pins. No known errors and shortcomings.

  • Interior condition:

Neat with fine patina. Clean and full attire with a few details to work with to get it really nice. No visible damage to the chairs. The rear seat has a centimetre of damage to the backrest top. Inner plastic moulding around the back door has been released in top. ?The mats have several wear holes on the right and left side. The accelerator pedal lacks rubber. A repair of the vinyl on the right sill, as well as a burned whole after a cigarette on the left. Ceiling is in good condition. No visible damage but some minor dirt stains that are likely to be rectified with a clothing clean solution.?Door sides neat and whole, but dents at crom list on the left side, and that one list on this side is not properly mounted. ?The instrument panel is in good and genuine working condition. Some cracks in the wooden original steering wheel but still in good condition. Rearview mirror slightly loose.
In the US style, the car has air conditioning, but not tested. ?The vinyl on the upper of the instrument panel has been released in height with the hands tray. Sunscreen left side slightly hanging down. Retro modern CD stereo. Luggage in neat condition, a hatch is missing on the right side. Two minor damages to the vinyl in the floor. But nice overall impression. Original spare wheel.

  • Exterior condition:

In working condition – with an older repainting in Primrose Yellow with some larger and smaller chafing and blemishes, which have been repainted with color in different colour. The left door and the tailhatch may need a fine adjustment. Chrome in good use condition to be the original. Buckled strips around front headlight right and left side. Bumpers – not perfect but shiny and do not spoil a car in fine working condition. Wheels good but not perfect. Plate rims with capsule that is shiny but with hints of some smaller traces of surface rust. Should be possible to get really nice with Autosol or similar. Tyres – 50% condition front and rear.Rubber in the large perfectly OK. Dry cracks and some paint on rubber strips after repainting.

  • General condition:

Older refurbishment in fine working condition. The varnish in Primrose Yellow has some improvements in a different colour. Recently started but not run in a few years.

Facts about the model

The Jaguar E-Type struck down as a bomb when it was presented in the Genéva fair 1961. This was truly a supercar and it was raised to the skies. The base of an E-Type is a self-supporting monocoque and initially Jaguar's 3.8-liter XK engine that grew to 4.2 liters of 1967. The body was designed by aerodynamics-the mathematician Malcolm Sayer who came from the aircraft manufacturer Bristol.
The roadster and the seater coupé still had the same wheelbase as the original Series I, while two plus runners were slightly longer. ?The engine was the same old retainers that had been hanging with ever since the XK-time – the wonderful straight six but it did in any case the air intake in the muzzle larger for better cooling, at the same time, the A-pillar was also slightly more reclined for smoother line games. In addition to other bumpers, headlamps without plexi glass shields and the new rear lights under the bumper were very similar. Series II, which was largely the result of increasingly stringent U.S. road safety laws, also had a slightly weaker engine to cope with U.S. environmental laws.
The Jaguar E-Type Series II was manufactured only between 1968 and 1970 – before being replaced by the heavier Series III with V12 engine and completely different in character than the first two generations.
