Description

Full of French charm in all its simple smallness. This car is well taken cared of and has the original mediterranean blue Bleu Mediterrannée with som of the wheel houses and the engine hood repainted.
The interior is in original state and in good condition. The upholstery and ceiling is intact and fine. However, the door insides made of paperboard are slightly deformed. The interior is probably completed with fine parts from different cars.
Under the engine hood is the usual rear engine with some 800 cm2. The engine room is intact and in its original state. The air-cleaner hose to the caburettor still has its original clamp - he same goes for the clamp on the textile hose to the rear air cleaner. This is a unique feature for the Swedish market and only for the 1958 model. At this time Philipson and Söner AB was the concessioner for Renault. Generally today, this equipment is removed even from non-refurbished specimens.
Though some remarks, this 4-CV is considered as one of the most original-complete specimens in Sweden.
The car was inspected in 2006 and has since then been a part of Jännaholm's car collection.

Condition

  • Interior condition:

    Intact and nice interior - completed with parts from several other CV-4 cars. The rubber mat shows traces of careful use.
    The door interiors made of paperboard have lost their original form. The cover over the steering wheel column is broken on the top.

  • Exterior condition:

    Neat original paintwork with repainted front hood and right-side front and rear wheelhouses. Chrome in working order and fine rubber strips. A blinker glass is missing on the right side. The wheel rims are silver painted instead of the common light grey-beige. One of the hubcaps taken from a later year class. The short ¨mustashes¨ on both sides of the front bonnet handle are missing. The front badge in the grill is broken. Some few small rust spots in the rear of the door sills needs attention. Futhermore some rust in the bottom edge of the doors - common for these cars.

  • General condition:

    Wonderful patina, well maintained for many years. Rare and complete original car.

Facts about the model

Historien om Renault 4-CV startade på Bilsalongen i Paris 1946. 4-CV var toppmodern med svansmotor, toppventiler, individuell hjulupphängning och självbärande kaross. Med en vikt på bara 600 kilo räckte 17 hk långt och bilen hade fullt acceptabla prestanda. Ibland har det hävdats att Ferdinand Porsche låg bakom konstruktionen men det är bara en myt. Sant är dock att Porsche lurades till ett möte med Frankrikes industriminister, varpå polisen snabbt arresterade honom för krigsförbrytelser. När det skedde var 4-CV nästan produktionsklar.
I Sverige såldes den i två versioner – personbilen och lastbilsversionen med plåt istället för fönster i bakdörrarna. Förutom att 4-CV sålde mycket bra tog den genom åren flera segrar i både Le Mans 24-timmars, Monte Carlo och Tour de France. Renault 4-CV tillverkades mellan 1946 och den 6 juli 1961 i totalt 1 105 547 exemplar! Utöver dessa tillkommer de japanska licenstillverkade bilarna byggda av Hino – fram till 1963.
