Volvo 245 GL — 1993

The car was sold new in Kalix in April 1993 and has always been driven in the north of Sweden. In 2004, it was sold to a person in Överkalix who had it until 2020 when it was sold to a car collector in southern Sweden. Norrbotten cars are always good, as they drive on salt-free roads. Then the sun can be strong in the summers, so they usually fade on the paintwork. But this one has done really well, with still the original paint on most of the car. The last owner, because of health reasons drove the car very little after 2014 so the car was garaged for six years before it was sold. The car is equipped with the typical extra lights that were available as an option when it was sold new, as well as an engine heater and tow-bar and roof railing. Typical Norrland equipment.
It is complete and nice in body and paint but roughly fitted plastic panels on the bottom edge of the doors and the front bumper. These are fixed with metal screws in the front. Probably because they are difficult to glue when it is cold and they get stuck in the doorway if they are not stuck down securely. • Mechanical condition

  The car starts immediately and is nice to drive. Last serviced and reviewed in June 2021. Everything except the mileage meter works as it should. It stopped in 2014 according to a note in the car, but after that, the car has only been driven a few hundred km so we estimate that the total mileage is about 300,500 km. Good tires all round.

• Interior condition

  Nice interior, it is not visible that the car has travelled 300,000 km, carpets, headliner and seats in very good condition. Door cards and dashboard as well. The door compartment on the driver's side is cracked and repaired, see picture.

• Exterior condition

  The car looks good, with no damage or rust on the outside. We have mentioned the fitting of the plastic panels. Otherwise, the car is well maintained and nice in every detail.

• General condition

  Volvo's technology from this era lasts 1,000,000 km, and the body has held up well, so the buyer here gets a classic for a low price, which can be of tremendous benefit and joy for many more years.

Sista två åren gjordes många bra uppdateringar på 240-modellen då den sålde bra och man tänkte ha den i programmet några år till. Men 1992 blev helt nya 850-modellen snabbt mycket populär, och man behövde mer produktionskapacitet till denna så i mars 1993 rullade den sista 240-bilen av bandet i Torslanda och kördes till Volvomuseet, där den kan beskådas.
