Citroën DS20 Break — 1973

A genuine DS Break with proven Kiruna history. Peter drove back to Gothenburg under the guise of "Expedition 45," which was recorded as a TV broadcast during a few October days in the autumn of 2004.

"Nice and well-maintained Break with low mileage. Includes a driving journal and various other documentation."

One of the more unique models in the DS family is the Citroen DS Break. They worked tirelessly and were utilized hard as a station wagon till the end. Simply put, there aren't many remaining. Mats Jakobsson and I first met in 2004 at Jakobsson Bil in Kiruna. Since the 1950s, that company has sold Citroen to happy and delighted customers in northern Norway through father and son company. I noticed a Break standing in a warehouse corner where it had been garaged since 1987. Jakobsson sold it new to a catering firm and then to some other local businesses. At the time, I was working for Kanal 5's Motorjournalen, and we decided that I'd buy Break and produce a report on driving the entire E45 down to Gothenburg in a DS Break that had freshly awoken from a long hibernation. So we did, including a clutch change before leaving, as well as picking up a Citroen 2CV on a trailer in Hammarstrand, outside of Östersund. The Break has been utilized as a family enthusiast car and occasionally as a transporter for scooters on the trailer every summer since then.

  • Mechanical condition:

Only limited use and a previous extended stoppage contributed to the relatively low and certified mileage of little under 130, 000 km. I've driven a little over 35,000 km in 17 years, taken good care of the car, and it's always been housed in my warm garage during the winters. The car just received a new water pump, the steering column gear was overhauled, and the bells were checked. The engine has been running well, and it is remarkably mechanically silent.

  • Interior condition:

Original upholstery that is worn on the driver's side but is otherwise fine. The headliner has a tear above the luggage compartment, otherwise the interior has a used, pleasant and fresh feeling.

  • Exterior condition:

The vehicle received a high-quality repaint in the original color Rouge Massena in 2007 and is in excellent shape. The lower panel in the luggage compartment was then replaced, along with some cleaning on the floor with the extra seats.

  • General condition:

I can state objectively that it is a great, unusual, and strange car with an enticing appearance in good condition. I'm selling because I bought a Porsche 911 SC in 1981 and realized that nothing lasts forever, but few cars have given me as much delight as this DS Break. You who purchased it, take careful care of it.
