The car was delivered new to Billner's shipping company in Gothenburg. After a few years on the roads, more specifically in 1963, the car was sold to a gentleman in Skåne who drove the car until 1979. By then it had rolled a modest 7900 miles. Then his nephew, the current owner, had to take over the car. In addition to the first short time in Gothenburg, the car has stopped within the same Scanian family.

The Stude baker is very well maintained with original paint and has only been stored in a garage and used gently during the summers during short trips in Skåne on fine paved roads.

- This is really a top specimen that just rolled 10000 miles. Clearly potent with Studebaker's self-made and compressor-fed V8 of 4.7 liters on 275 horses. Unusually enough also with manual transmission. I think the car will attract many buyers both here in the country and from the rest of Europe, says Michael Luft.

  • Mechanical condition:

    A well cared for original car, serviced and repaired by pedantic owners. This rare compressor engine was renovated in 1963 (receipt available) and has been fully service thereafter. The car runs like a dream and works great, rare to find a car with manual transmission.

  • Interior condition:

    Stunning pristine original interior, seat had been protected with seat cover until they were removed 2 years ago to rival untouched in original seat.

  • Exterior condition:

    The front wing was repaired from rust around the ventilation vent in the mid-60s, and fully repainted its original color. The paintwork is incredibly nicely to this day. You can see a few dots in the paint on the hood and tailgate if you look carefully, as well as a slight damage to the bumper right rear. Chrome and other details in perfect condition considering age; the car has always been garaged.

  • General condition:

    Unusual car in original condition with a nice specification, completely ready to drive home. All the car needs is a new owner to further cherish the cars future.

Facts about the model

Studebaker Golden Hawk är namnet på en prestanda- och prestigemodell av Studebaker som tillverkades 1956-1958.

Studebaker Golden Hawk var den dyraste och mest påkostade modellen i Hawk-serien som i introducerades som en sportig "personal car" 1956. Den var en så kallad "hard top" (kupé utan B-stolpe mellan sidorutorna) och skilde sig från motorsvagare bröder genom små fenor på bakflyglarna.

Modellen utrustades med motor från Packard, Studebakers partner dessa år, och även växellådorna var de som användes av detta märke. Motorn var på 352 kubiktum, ca 5.8 liter och utvecklade 275 hk och närmare 500 nm. Motorn var stor och tung och inte optimal för den lätta (med amerikanska mått) hawkmodellen.

Bilen var snabb, både i toppfart och acceleration, men blev kraftigt understyrd. För 1957 års modell ersattes Packard-motorn med en mindre V8 av Studebakers egen tillverkning, på 289 kubiktum eller 4,7 liter. Effekten var oförändrad 275hk trots tvåports förgasare på grund av en centrifugalkompressor som monterats på motorn.

Kompressorn arbetade mest vid fullt pådrag, och den nya modellen blev alltså både mer vägsäker, bränslesnål och även snabbare än förut.

Fenorna, som tillverkades i karossplåt, blev större, och en bula (scoop) på huven fick dölja kompressorn. 1958 års modell är snarlik, men tillverkad i ännu färre exemplar.
