Description

Sold new in Sweden in 1970, then blue metallic and according to the available information only a few owners. In the mid-80s, it was bought by Opel Team Sweden, Bus-Ove Eriksson and Ragge Eklund, to be driven in the Historic Jubilee Rally Gothenburg-Stockholm in June 1986. After that, it remained standing for 35 years. Now it has been started up and inspected/Moted. It was, among other things, rust repair, it has new shock absorbers, turning of drive shafts, new pipes and silencers, an inspection of brakes, fuel and ignition systems and upgrading of safety, operational and wearable parts. Otherwise, nothing has changed since the competition in 1986.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

    After a major review, it is in good technical condition. A car for competition, which requires speed and aggressive driving.

  • Interior condition:

    The Interior and the boot are rigged for the rally with an approved protective cage, belts, fire extinguisher etc.

  • Exterior condition:

    It was repainted, probably by Opel Team Sweden, for the anniversary rally. Steel wheels with nice tyres. In good patinated condition.

  • General condition:

    The Opel Rally Kadett is a 1960s/70s icon with a competition background and patina. It is now a superb classic for the Opel and rally enthusiast, having been carefully started and inspected/MOTed.

Facts about the model

Opel hade framgångar i början av 60-talet och dammade 1962 även av sin lilla förkrigsversion Kadett, självklart i en helt ny skepnad. Suget efter bilar var stort och en kompakt och liten bil var på modet.

Som årsmodell 1966 kom en uppdaterad version Kadett B. Olika karosser och motorer samt utrustning gjorde Kadetten populär i många olika grupper. Det var en pigg liten krabat och den visade sig även ha sportiga egenskaper men än mer skulle det bli.

Det hela började med att Ragnar "Ragge" Eklund 1965 blev ansvarig för Opels tävlingsavdelning i Sverige. Från början var tyskarna inte intresserade men Opel i Sverige genom ÅF-ledet investerade i verksamheten. Sakta men säkert utvecklades den och framgångarna kom. Den nya vassa 1900S motorn var primärt ämnad för de större Opelbilarna, som kanske inte var de bästa vagnarna på turfen. Så varför inte slänga i motorn i den mindre och smidigare Kadetten, resonerade man i Sverige. Tyskarna hade ju tagit fram sportversioner, fast med en svag 1100 motor. Sagt och gjort, en prototyp byggdes här i Stockholm och togs ner till Tyskland. Simsalabim så hade man skapat en klassiker, med 1900S motorn blev Rallykadetten en dåtidens värsting. Motorn gav otrimmad 90 hk. Attribut som svart innertak, extraljus, bredare fälgar samt mattsvart ränder och fält ansågs stentufft. Hugade köpare kunde sedan köpa diverse utrustning för att hotta upp vagnen ytterligare, hos sin lokala Opelhandlare. Det blev dessutom kraftigare fjäderpaket och skruvfjädrar bak för att matcha effekten. Under produktionen årsmodell 1968-71 utvecklades modellen och även en starkare Sprintversion med 106 hk erbjöds.

Självklart blev det inte bara finåka "på stan" med en vagn med tävlingsambitioner. Det blev tävlingar också, så även här i Sverige. Det blev segrar både i Grupp 1 och Grupp två i början av 70-talet. I RAC-rallyt 1970 kom man dessutom tvåa, trea och fyra. I teamet ingick bl.a. svenskarna Bus-Ove Eriksson, Lillebror Nasenius och Janne Henriksson.

Idag ser vi Rallykadetter i historiska tävlingar runt om i världen.

When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
