"This car has had a calm life and is in fine original condition with mild wear and tear. No deviations from the original configuration; most things remain in the place they were at the time of its first registration. Wear parts have, of course, been replaced over the years. You can enjoy open-top driving with good performance and plenty of space for the family."

Description

This car was registered for traffic on March 26, 2003. The first owner acquired it in May of the same year. The current owner purchased it in September 2005 and has owned it since then. It has always been stored in a heated garage and driven only during the lighter half of the year. In the past ten years, it has been driven approximately 15,000 kilometers, with a total mileage of 87,230 kilometers. It has been a pleasant convertible and a summer car for the family. The car has been regularly serviced and well cared for. It comes with original documents such as the owner’s manual, service book, and more. Various receipts, inspection reports, and two sets of keys are also included. A practical wind deflector is provided as well.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts easily and runs smoothly in both the engine and drivetrain. During a calm test drive in a residential area, everything functioned as expected, including steering, clutch, shifting, and brakes. The electric mechanism for raising and lowering the soft top worked perfectly. Although it hasn’t been inspected on a lift, everything visible appeared to be in good condition, with no issues noted by the vehicle inspection.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is original, with good support in both the seats and the rear bench. The leather is in good condition for its age and mileage, as are the textile carpets and protective mats. The steering wheel, instrumentation, and controls are in good working order. The electrical functions appear to be operating well.

  • Exterior condition:

The paintwork appears to be original, with minor wear, including small scratches, scuffs, and stone chips consistent with the car’s age and mileage. The glass, rubber, plastic, and lighting details are in similar condition. The emblems show some slight wear. The wheels and tires are in good condition, as are the engine bay and trunk. The soft top is also in good shape.

  • General condition:

This is the final version of the 9-3 Generation 1 model, and as the saying goes, a model is never as good as when it goes out of production. Here we have a fine example that in many ways proves this to be true. Additionally, with few owners, low mileage, and the sought-after Aero version with a lively 205 hp engine and a five-speed manual gearbox, along with being a Cabriolet, this car is a great classic and an interesting piece of Swedish motoring history.

Facts about the model

With the Saab 9-3, the company followed the naming convention of the 9-5 model. The new 9-3 model was an evolution of the Saab 900, which was launched as the 1993 model year. Generation 1 of the new 9-3, produced from 1998 to 2003, was primarily a facelift of the previous 900 model. It featured new bumper designs, a new grille, and a redesigned rear end, partially inspired by the larger 9-5 model. The chassis and crash safety were also updated. Body styles included three- and five-door hatchbacks, as well as a popular Cabriolet. From the 1999 model year, a powerful special version, the Viggen, was introduced.

For the 2000 model year, the Aero version was launched with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 205 hp, borrowing some design and visual elements from the Viggen. The 9-3 model was a relatively popular mid-sized car, offering both practicality and enjoyable driving dynamics with the classic Saab feel.
