Description
This VW-1500 has had six owners, and the current one purchased the car in 2003 in Sandviken. At that time, the car wouldn't start, but after some carburetor adjustments, he managed to get it running again. The brakes were refurbished at the same time, and the car was inspected and approved. Initially, the family attended local gatherings and cruises with the VW. The last approved inspection was carried out in 2012 with the note "Good to know: Left floor, rust damaged". This has not been addressed.
In 2013, the family went to Tierp for the Classic Bugrun #3 with the car. Since then, it hasn't been used much and has mostly been stored in a garage. There is rust that needs attention, but overall, it's in relatively good condition. At some point, it was repainted in the original color "Birch Grün", and the car has been equipped with plastic fenders at the front. The interior is original and in good used condition with some wear, see photos. It's a relatively untouched car with the original engine and a single carburetor.

Interior condition
The interior is original and is in good used condition with some wear, see photos. The headliner is nice and intact, in good condition. The dashboard is in a fine, undamaged state.

The car has an older repaint in a used condition. Some rust is visible in a few places, see photos. According to the inspection report from 2012, the left floor is rust damaged. The aluminum casting on the intake has cracked, see photo. The chrome work is in varying conditions, see photos.

Facts about the model
When production of the Type 3 began in August 1961, it first came as the Sedan model Notchback, followed by the Variant in February 1962. The Coupe version TL arrived in August 1965, coinciding with the debut of the 1600 engine. Volkswagen intended the coupe to replace the Notchback, but in several markets, the sedan was preferred, so all models continued until production ceased in 1973.
The Type 3 received a facelift in 1970 with a longer front, larger bumpers, and the large rear lights.
The rationale behind the Type 3 was that following the success of the Type 1, Volkswagen wanted to expand its model range with a slightly larger car. The basic design, featuring an air-cooled boxer engine mounted at the rear, was retained. However, the Type 3 offered slightly more space and was also more comfortable to ride in. Just like the Type 1, the car was designed with a base plate onto which the body was mounted, and the suspension was managed using torsion bars. The 1.5-liter engine, which was also available in Type 1, was partially redesigned to have a reduced height, achieved mainly by relocating the cooling fan. This allowed for a small luggage space on top of the engine, where the Type 1 only had a storage compartment behind the rear seat backrest. Unlike the Type 1, the engine and rear axle were mounted on a subframe, which in turn had rubber bushings against the body, reducing vibrations and improving comfort.

Important to know before placing your bids!
