Description

This car was originally purchased new by a Swede in Germany on October 31, 1988. In October 1991, it was registered in Sweden when the owner moved back home. The son took over the car in May 2012, and in June 2021, it was passed on to his daughter. Over the years, the car has been driven sparingly, and the odometer now reads 72,790 kilometers. When the current owner’s grandfather bought the car new in Germany, he ordered it with a 730 emblem. It’s unclear why, but reportedly, he liked the idea of being discreet while having the ability to surprise with the car’s performance. The car remains in original condition and has been regularly serviced at the same workshop for many years. This has included oil changes, filters, and spark plugs, as well as the normal consumption of wear-and-tear parts. There have been no major repairs. The car comes with original documents, including the owner’s manual, service booklet, and various receipts and inspection reports.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and runs smoothly and comfortably in both the engine and drivetrain. All functions, including shifting, steering, brakes, front suspension, etc., work well. There is a slight ‘clonk’ when braking, likely from the gas sphere. The car was test-driven at a relaxed pace, but the various driving modes were checked and seemed to function as they should with different ‘shift patterns.’ It hasn’t been inspected on a lift, but from what could be seen, everything appears to be in order, with no comments from the vehicle inspection.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in fine original condition, with well-preserved seats and rear bench showing only mild signs of use. The door panels, dashboard, steering wheel, controls, and wood details are in similarly good condition. The textile carpets are complemented by molded rubber floor mats. The headliner is intact but sags slightly behind the sunroof towards the rear window. All electrical systems appear to function well, and the AC cools effectively. There are some dead pixels in the trip computer, and the functionality of the original radio and audio system is uncertain, as it couldn’t be turned on—likely requiring a code. The sunroof functions properly.

  • Exterior condition:

The paintwork (Royal Blue Metallic) is glossy and appears to be in original condition. There are a few minor scratches, small stone chips, and scuffs, along with some small ‘bubbles’ on the underside of the trunk lid, but this can be considered normal wear for the car’s age and mileage. The chrome, glass, plastic, rubber, and lighting details are in good condition. The original wheels are in fine shape, with slight color variation, and the Good Year tires are in good condition. The engine and trunk compartments are in typical good condition for the car’s age and mileage. The tool kit is complete.

  • General condition:

Overall, this is a fine car that aligns well with its age and mileage. Both the E32 model and this car’s exclusive drivetrain, equipment, and color combination epitomize a luxury vehicle and highway cruiser from the late 80s and early 90s. At 35 years old, it is now ready for classic and enthusiast status.
