Description

This car was bought new by an ex-Saab employee and registered to his wife, who still owns it today. She is only selling it because her husband, who adored the car, has sadly passed away, and she needs a winter car instead. This car will be available for viewing at our stand during the Saab Festival.

On December 19, 2011, a dark day for Swedish automotive history, Saab Automobile went bankrupt. In the summer of 2012, the bankruptcy estate was taken over by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), which included the rights to the Saab 9-3. After the factories had been idle for over two years, NEVS resumed production of the 9-3 model. Only one model series, the Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4, was produced. It was similar to the previous 9-3 model but with some differences. Both GM and Scania ceased providing certain parts and solutions. Although it was called Saab, it had different emblems, without the Gripen. The seats were different, sourced from the Volvo XC90. Both the fuel injection and brake systems had to be modified. It was produced in two colors: silver and black metallic, with manual or automatic transmissions, both with six gears. The base price was SEK 279,000, with an additional SEK 10,000 for automatic transmission. This included winter tires and free service up to 9,000 miles.

In December 2013, production started, and 421 cars were produced, mostly in March and April of the following year, before it came to a halt on May 20. Initially, the halt was attributed to a lack of liquidity, with plans to resume production four weeks later. However, this did not happen, and Saab's era as a car manufacturer came to an end once again.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Runs and drives very well, with a complete service history and nothing needing fixing. Simply turn the key and drive home. It features nice wheels and good tires, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is completely undamaged, showing only light signs of usage and wear. All the electrical systems, including the AC, work perfectly, and there are no warning lights. With just a light detailing, it would look nearly like new.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is undamaged, with no rust or issues, matching the condition of the underbody. The paintwork is very clean and tidy, with a good shine. There is a small light scuff on the bumper lower valance and a few super minor marks in the paintwork that are only noticeable if you look extremely closely. With a polish and detailing, it will look like new.

  • General condition:

This Swedish car holds great historical interest. The combination of Saab/NEVS, equipment, appearance, condition, and mileage make it a somewhat unique vehicle. Whether it will serve as a practical car or an enthusiast's gem remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the model is already a sought-after classic.
