Description
The older relative of the current owner bought this new one in 1988. The Volvo is equipped with power steering, tow bar, head rests, five-speed gearbox, catalytic converter and original radio. There are some scratches and marks that can be polished out, the foundation of the car feels solid and it drives well in engine and gearbox.

Facts about the model
Sveriges mest sålda bilmodell. Från 1983 hade Volvo bestämt sig för att slopa de gamla modellbeteckningarna 242, 244 och 245 – från och med nu hette alla 240. 1984 fick alla varianter med insprutningsmotor – alltså GLT, GLE och Turbo ny front med förhöjd motorhuv och svart grill, samtidigt fick också alla positionsljusen på framskärmarna. Inför 1985 fick alla modeller omkonstruerade motorer för minskad inre friktion. Den lägre friktionen sänkte bränsleförbrukningen och gav bättre kallstartsegenskaper. Motorerna hade nytt block i gjutjärn och topplock i aluminium.
Volvo 240 som hade sin grund i 140-serien presenterades 1974. Under åren genomgick den flera förändringar och när efterföljaren 740 presenterades 1984 trodde nog många att 240 skulle försvinna. Nedläggningen skulle dock dröja ända till 1993.
I början hade bensinarna antingen den gamla B20 eller den nyare B21, senare endast B19, B21 eller B23 (fram till 1984) därefter bara den större motorn som nu döpts om till B230. De manuella växellådorna var första året M40 (4-växlad) och M41 (4-växlad med överväxel), men skulle ersättas av M45 och M46 till året därpå. Från årsmodell 1983 infördes också M47 (5-växlad) på GL. Automatväxellåda fanns som tillval och var i 1975 och 1976 års modeller en 3-stegs Borg-Warner BW35 och ersattes 1977 av Borg-Warner BW55, även den 3-stegad. Från årsmodell 1980 infördes en modernare 4-stegs Aisin-Warner AW71 på GLE samt GLT och året därpå även på Turbo. Den blev dock standard på samtliga modeller från årsmodell 1985.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
