BMW 340 Limousine — 1950

In the 1930's it was an exciting luxury pre-war model from BMW, but after the war the factory ended up behind the Iron curtain and production continued without development under the BMW brand until 1952. This car was built in 1950.

"A historically very interesting model which was restored in Sweden in the 1980s and still remains in an overall very good condition."

Description

The car was bought by the famous Swedish actor Björn Gustavsson's father from new. It has been part of Sparreholm's car collection and on display in the museum since autumn 2005 until very recently. Restored into a beautiful condition in the 1980's. The car do have a registration number and it was sold new in Sweden, but you will need to register the car since its only have an old pre-registration. It's a fairly straightforward thing to do, but it has to be done before export. Bilweb Auctions can direct an international buyer to a company that will handle the whole process.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine has not been started during our documentation, but it was rebuilt by a Swedish workshop with an extensive knowledge about this particular model, and with many parts from the Norwegian importer. The owner before the current owner bought almost the entire spare parts stock in Norway.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is surprisingly beautiful with an almost art deco-feeling and is in a very good condition in all its details. .

  • Exterior condition:

The car had a black paint from new, but got a green repaint at some time over the years. During its full overhaul the former owner restored the cars paint back to its original black color, although it says green in the pre-registration documents. The hub caps are missing (but owner is looking for them) and the car has not been driven since 2008.

  • General condition:

Here is a rare opportunity to get hold of an interesting piece of post-war automotive history and with some research via the Swedish National Archives' services you can find the car's full history.

Facts about the model
