Mazda MX-5 1.6 — 1993

• Mechanical condition

  The driving experience is familiar and well-known. Fine response from the engine, with a direct and mechanically pleasing balance in the steering, gearbox, clutch, and brakes. The chassis is slightly lowered with a sportfahrwerk to a nicely moderate ride height. The lowering was done by the previous owner in Germany, and the current owner has no information on the specification of the chassis components, but the car does not feel harsh. For the enthusiasts: In circles around the Miata NA model, there is often talk of early cars' short nose or long nose crankshaft, which concerns the quality of the Woodruff key and the condition of the crankshaft bolt that holds the pulley. On cars built before mid-1991 (up to chassis number 127442), the design is sensitive to incorrect assembly after, for example, a timing belt replacement. The auction car is a '93 and was thus built well after that cutoff point.

• Interior condition

  Equipment and specifications vary between markets, and the early NA models in Germany featured, among other things, power windows and a nice factory-fitted Momo steering wheel. Beneath the plastic pad over the steering wheel center hides a horn button with a Momo badge. The seats show little to no wear and are undamaged. Loose accessory floor mats in good condition, the original carpet is somewhat worn. Good door panels, the right one has a minor scratch and the speaker grilles have lost some paint, common on this model. The current owner early on installed a CD changer in the trunk area and an amplifier where the spare wheel usually sits. The latter is included separately.

• Exterior condition

  Fine, well-maintained original paint except for the doors and hood, which have been repainted following insurance claims for scratches and stone chips. Unusually and pleasingly, there is no rust damage on the rocker panel behind the doors, a typical trouble spot for this model when the drainage hole from the soft top gets clogged. Just one small bubble, on the right side. The soft top was replaced back in 2002 but is in like-new condition with a zipper for the rear window. 16-inch aftermarket wheels with some minor damage and old tires from 2001 with legal tread depth. High time to replace those tires, in other words. The car is also equipped with a so-called style bar, that is, a mock roll bar attached with a few small screws. Apart from the fact that it could injure the driver or passengers in the event of a rollover, acting as a mousetrap over the neck, in the purely subjective opinion of the undersigned it does nothing to improve the car's appearance.

• General condition

  A fine example with a good and relatively untouched overall impression. Many boxes checked for a Miata enthusiast who wants to drive original. New 16-inch tires and/or a set of original 14-inch Daisy wheels with fresh tires are two different ways to go. Or both, as mentioned.

• At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
• During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.

Important to know before placing your bids!

• Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
• When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
• If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
• If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
• Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
• For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
