"A lively and willing workhorse that can perform services and haul smaller loads, yet still do its duty. Not a strictly original vehicle, but practical for everyday use. It has now been standing for a few years, and a mechanical overhaul and service are recommended. At the time of photography and inspection, the items were somewhat tightly spaced and indoors."

Description

This pickup was first registered for road use on May 23, 1969. Over the years it has had relatively few owners. Between 2014 and 2017 it was owned by Aston Hill of Lidingö. The current owner, a well-known figure in the classic car hobby for many years, acquired the vehicle in March 2017 and it has formed part of his extensive private collection. The odometer now reads 95,330 km, which may be correct. Over the past 15 years it has covered 4,250 km. The car comes with various documents as well as a box of useful small parts.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Started up ahead of the sale but not driven for several years. The engine bay is in fine, clean, and dry condition. Not inspected on a lift, but what could be seen looked good.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in fine condition with new and comfortable seats with headrests. Fine door panels and carpets. A fine accessory steering wheel and wooden gear shift knob, along with a dashboard in the same material. Gauges and all electrical functions appear to be working.

  • Exterior condition

Previously repainted in red and still in fine condition with some minor wear from use. Chrome, trim, emblems, glass, and lighting details are in fine condition. Auxiliary lights and horn at the front. Nice wide wheels with good tires. A practical and usable little bed with a fine and tight-fitting tarp cover. Of course with the classic tailgate and hanging license plate for loading longer items.

  • General condition

This is a practical and useful little classic with the Mini's aura and the opportunity for some work sessions. It is equally well suited for outings and meets as for use as a market vehicle and/or a promotional and company vehicle. A charming classic and nostalgia car.

Owner's comment

Our father has always been an enthusiastic motoring historian, and over the years many fine and well-maintained cars have passed through the collection. He has always cared for, serviced, and kept them in fine, roadworthy condition. It has been a way of life, and he—and we in the family—carry with us a wealth of friends, cars, and memories. Now it is time for the next chapter for us and for the cars in the collection.

Facts about the model

The Mini – an icon of motoring history. Anyone with even the slightest interest in motoring history knows that Alec Issigonis designed the model, and that the concept of a transversely mounted engine up front, front-wheel drive, and thus generous interior space in a small car was and remains a recipe for success that still holds up today.

The Mini first saw the light of day back in 1959 and was built by BMC from 1959 to 1969, Leyland from 1969 to 1984, and thereafter by the Rover Group until 2000. That marked the end of the original model. But it lives on in new form through BMW. Over the years it was produced in a wide range of body styles, with various engine options and equipment levels, even under different radiator badges. In addition, there were open special versions and licensed production in other countries. On race tracks and in rallies, it is legendary.

The Mini was beloved then and is at least as beloved now – it is quite simply immortal and as British as the Beatles, tweed, and lukewarm beer.
