"Very nice little Fiat, professionally done restoration that has remained in good condition over the years."

Description

Sold new in Sweden in 1947 and first registered on January 1, 1947. It was completed after renovation and registered for use again in 2008. Since then, it has been used a few times per year and, in between, stored in a small car museum in Värnamo. The current owner bought it for his collection in 2021 and, in addition to regular maintenance, has also replaced the tires.
The four-cylinder water-cooled engine with 570cc and 13 hp makes the car feel like a real car, even though it’s only a two-seater. A nice addition to any car collection and also fun to drive.

Owner's comment

The previous owner bought the car in 1996 from Ronneby, and besides me and the car dealer, they are the only owners in the car's 77-year history. The car underwent a complete restoration, which was finished in 2008, after which it was inspected by MHRF, who insured it and gave it the rating of VERY GOOD CONDITION. Since the restoration, the car has been driven very little, and after I purchased it in 2021, it has received a service and new tires.

Facts about the model

In 1936, Fiat introduced its smallest model, the 500, which was nicknamed 'Topolino,' meaning 'little mouse' in Italian. The car, which weighed only 600 kilos, seated two people and had no trunk. But there was plenty of space for those two. It was a real car with a water-cooled four-cylinder engine, a synchronized gearbox, and independent front suspension. The Topolino came in two versions – with a large retractable fabric roof or as a closed-top model.

In 1948, the updated 500B was introduced with an overhead valve engine, and at the same time, the model series was supplemented with a station wagon version that had a small rear seat. Just a year later, the time had come for the 500C, which featured a trunk. The C was produced until 1955 when it was replaced by the slightly larger rear-engine 600.

The car was a huge success for Fiat, with 110,000 units produced. Today, it is estimated that a couple of thousand cars remain, with only a few hundred in Sweden.
