"The car was last inspected/MOT'd 30 years ago and has been garaged since then. It has now received a start-up service and can now run and drive, but it requires some renovation work."

Description

The car was sold new to the previous owner's aunty, who owned and drove the car until the early 1990s, when it was garaged. The current owner bought the car in 2009 with the intention of restoring it, but he sadly died earlier this year and the car is now being sold on behalf of his estate. The car comes with an original service and handbooks

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

We have made a new startup service that includes new motoroil, fuel system inspection, carbuerttors inspection, and a general review. It now runs, drives, and brakes using the hand brake. The brakes require a thorough examination and the replacement of the left caliper. Gearbox and clutch are in good working order, and there is no unusual engine noise but blowing from the exhaust. Suspension works all around, but the front sits a little higher.

  • Interior condition:

The interior retains all of its original details, the seats have seat covers, and the textile underneath appears to be in excellent condition. Overall, it's clean and tidy, with no off-putting smells.

  • Exterior condition:

It still has its original paintwork, but it has rusted like every other model of its kind. The main areas are around the rear wheel arches, front and rear valances, and below the indicators on the front wings. The underbody appears to be solid, with no holes and only a little surface rust here and there. Surface rust blisters that appear on the bodywork can be repaired..

  • General condition:

Because these are becoming increasingly scarce, it is well worth restoring; it is an ideal winter project for a VW enthusiast, requiring primarily bodywork and repainting.
