"The owner, a Renault technician, has had the car for 3 years. During this time, he has overhauled the brakes, installed new cam and drive belts, refurbished the radiator, reviewed the electrics, replaced the rear exhaust section, and changed all the fluids. The car has been inspected and is MOT-certified until July 31, 2025. It runs smoothly with the engine, brakes, and automatic gearbox functioning well, though there's a slight exhaust leak from the front section."

Description

This car was originally purchased in Sweden and predominantly resided in the southern region. In 1989, a Renault dealer and collector acquired it, where it remained in storage until its purchase by the current owner in 2020. Its preserved condition today is a testament to good storage practices, previous rust protection treatments, and the fact that it remained off the roads for over 30 years. The current owner, a Renault technician, undertook the task of recommissioning the car, ensuring a thorough review was done and any worn parts were replaced. This allowed the car to be inspected and receive its inspection certification, valid until July 31, 2025. Since then, the car has been driven locally and has graced several classic car events. It consistently garners attention, as it's a rare sight on today's roads.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

As highlighted, extensive work has been done on the car. It starts immediately and boasts a robust-sounding engine. Both the brakes and the automatic transmission function as expected. The vehicle is fitted with sturdy steel wheels and newer tires.

  • Interior condition:

The bodywork of this 1978 Renault is notably straight and clean for its age. However, there are minor blisters around the petrol cap, the rear corner window, and the lower edges of the doors, exhaust, and boot lid. These imperfections are subtle and not easily noticeable from a distance. The car has been repainted, and despite the passage of time, the paint retains its sheen, offering a good finish. There are the usual scratches, blisters, and touch-ups in some areas, including a small chip in the paint on the bonnet (refer to attached pictures for details). The underbody is clean and sturdy, but there's minor damage to the jacking point on the driver's side.

  • Exterior condition:

The bodywork is straight and clean for a renault from 1978, but it does have small blisters around the petrol cap and rear corner window and also around the lower edges of the doors, exhaust and boot lid that arent so noticable from the outside. The car has been repainted and the paintwork still looks good and has a good finish with normal scrathcess, blisters and touch ups in places and a small paint chip on the bonnet "see pictures" The underbody looks clean and solid with a small damage on the driver side jacking poin.

  • General condition:

If you're in search of something unique and uncommon for those summer drives, this car is the ideal choice for your next classic car show. With its inspection valid until 2025, it offers ease of ownership and can be driven just as it is.
