In January 1992, this wagon was delivered to an entrepreneur in Hemse on Gotland. It has rolled there for many salt-free years. A family friend took over the car 12 years ago and now it's time for the next owner. A relatively early 850 GLT that rolled calmly through life for just over 30 years and is now in good original condition. There are things to fix but they are mostly cosmetic details. In 2020, it got a new fan motor. The year after it got new summer and winter tyres, as well as a service of the crankcase ventilation, new spark plugs, oil pressure sensor, and new brake pads all around. New cambelt kit and water pump. A year ago it had a Volvo Classic original service and now in July it was inspected and approved. It has received a lot of praise for its nice undercarriage.
Instruction book, service booklet and other documents are included. Summer and winter tyres. The alarm is out of order.

A well-functioning original car that has been serviced continuously. Technically in very good condition. Rust free underbody and very nice in the wheel houses, doors and door jams.

Interior condition
The good seats and nice upholstery. The door panels are in well-kept condition, and so are the instrumentation and carpets. The boot is in good condition. A newer sound system is installed.

Exterior condition
The original paint has scratches. The front bumper has paint flakes and on the driver's side towards the wheel housing. A few small dents at the joint between the right front and rear doors. The tyres are nice.

General condition
A Swedish classic that helped renew Volvo's image worldwide. Here in good original condition from the premiere year. There are details to fix but this is a pleasant classic.

Facts about the model
Med modell 850 inledde Volvo en ny era. Efter 65 år med bakhjulsdrivna bilar var det nu slutligen dags för framhjulsdrift. Det var också många andra nyheter i den nya modellen, såsom: helt ny motor som var femcylindrig och tvärställd, den nya delta bakaxeln, sidokrocksskydd SIPS, självjusterande bälten fram mm.
Det var en för den tiden gigantisk satsning som beräknades till 16 miljarder, när modellen stod färdig och presenterades 1991. Förutom att Volvo behöll kärnvärden som kvalitet och säkerhet förflyttade de sig uppåt mot premiumklassen samt fick en betydligt modernare och sportigare image.
Det var redan 1978 som PG Gyllenhammar hade tryckt på startknappen för projektet Galaxy. Formgiven av Jan Vilsgaard, stod den där på podiet i Globen vid premiärvisningen den 11 juni 1991 och en hel bilvärld förundrades. Under åren 1992-1996 dök det ideligen upp nya varianter och basen var inledningsvis en fyrdörrars kaross, senare 1993 även på känt Volvomanér, en femdörrars Herrgårdsvagn. Den karossen körde man tom racing med - allt för bra PR och varumärkesförflyttning. Vilket Volvo lyckades med - lugna trygga versioner höll kvar den gamla kundkretsen men allt från Turbo till fyrhjulsdrift i klatchiga färger och påkostad inredning lockade också nya kundgrupper. From årsmodell 1997 ersattes 850 av en rejält uppdaterad version i Volvos nya modellstrategi, S70 och V70.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
