"It's not every day that you come across such an unusual renovation job."

Description

BMW built in Eisenach, Germany. It was sold new in the Östersund area in 1951, with registration number Z8165.
It was dismantled for renovation in Järvsö in 1963. That attempt came to a halt at an early stage. The current owner has had the car for eight years, but due to a lack of time, it need someone who can tackle this unusual project.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The original engine has been disassembled, but the gearbox is complete. The engine is BMW's famed six-cylinder engine from the pre-war era, which was regarded as one of the best engines at the time.

  • Interior condition

Original upholstery with minor damage that has faded over time. The instrumentation is complete, as is the headliner.

  • Exterior condition

Complete and untouched, with all of the paint work remaining. There is a dent at the bottom of a wing edge, but otherwise it is straight, fine, and practically rust free. Moldings and grill are in good shape.

  • General condition

Given that it has been substantially dismantled for nearly 60 years and that all original parts come with the car since then, this is a remarkable find. Unusual in the sense that less than 300 EMW / BMW were sold in the Sweden in the 1950s. There are only a few known examples left today, both here or elsewhere.

Facts about the model

Man fortsatte bygga förkrigsmodellerna 326/327/328.
I Sverige såldes knappt 300 EMW-bilar.
