Description

This car was bought new by a man in Skåne who used it until he died and his son inherited it. It was driven gently in the summer as son was very afraid of it. In 1990, it was garaged and started occasionally and 5 years ago he died and the son inherited. Now the third family member doesn’t have the time to drive it and it remains garaged. This Mercedes has only had 3 owners father, son and grandson.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

    Starts and runs fine with external fuel tank, original fuel tank and lines must be cleaned. Brakes do not work, must be renovated. It’s a bit sluggish in the gearbox but probably just needs to be lubricated.

  • Interior condition:

    Entire interior is original and worn and needs a full reconditioning, with holes in the rear seat cushion.

  • Exterior condition:

    Original paint that remains good, some defects on the front wing and a little paint lifting on the doors, which is easy to fix. Good chrome that requires a polish.

  • General condition:

    A good and non-renovated original car that with some renovation work and a service this winter, will be a nice enthusiast car for the coming season.

Facts about the model

Daimler Benz fabriksanläggningar runt Stuttgart utgjorde en mycket viktig del av den tyska krigsindustrin. Därför bombades dessa sönder och samman i krigets slutskede. Trots förödelsen kunde tillverkningen åter starta i maj 1946, då med nyttofordon som lätta lastbilar och ambulanser på W136-chassit, under sträng kontroll av ockupationsmakten. I juli 1947 återupptogs tillverkningen av personbilar, nu enbart med fyrdörrars sedankaross. Bilen var i stort sett identisk med mellankrigsversionen. I maj 1949 tillkom 170 D med dieselmotor.

I maj 1950 ersatte 170 Va/170 Da, med större motorer.

I maj 1952 kom sista versionen170 Vb/170 Db, med detaljförändringar såsom större frontruta.

Produktionen efter andra världskriget uppgick till 83 190 exemplar.

170 S-V/S-D
Samtidigt som den nya 180 presenterades, fortsatte Mercedes att bygga W136 som instegsmodell. 170 S-V/S-D, introducerad i juli 1953, togs fram genom att kombinera chassi och motorer från 170 V/D med den större karossen från 170 S.

Produktionen, som upphörde i september 1955, uppgick till 18 009 exemplar.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
