Description

Heinkel Kabine T153 was built under license in 1959 in Dundalk, Ireland, after the German manufacturer chose to focus on its two-wheeled heinkel tourist scooter after just two years of manufacturing kabine at heinkelverken in Stuttgart in 1956-58.
Then Trojan took over the license and manufactured them until 1964. A Heinkel Trojan is a very familiar sight for many who saw them on Swedish roads during the sixties, as many as 15% of the production went to Sweden. Swedish Heinkel Trojans even had a special chassis number for Sweden where the first letter X stood for Sweden and the second for the color, mostly grey, red or light blue; G, R, or B.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine rolls over and is complete, but is not started for a long time. These engines are mainly needed to be tested in the valve guides, piston/cylinder/rings and Dynastart (combined generator/star motor) function. A funny detail is that the engine is a 204 cc that’s a bit rarer. The German Kabins mainly had had 175cc engines and some 204; Trojan production in England had only 198 cubic engines.

  • Interior condition:

Interior parts are delicate and made of cardboard, mainly door upholstery and door card appear to be intact. The seat is poorly covered but with original checkered fabric, easy to find replacement materials. Original rubber mat is missing.

  • Exterior condition:

It’s partly renovated in the body work, but needs further work to be completed. These cars are relatively straightforward to work with.

  • General condition:

It’s a good project car that seems to be in complete. Thanks to the relatively large sales volume in Sweden, there are quite a few items and parts available. Membership in the German and English Heinkel clubs greatly simplifies ownership for a potential buyer.
