"A station wagon in its true sense, that’s completely renovated with original parts. Can it get any better?"

First owner John was general agent for Sprite caravans in Sweden. When he retired in 1969, he decided to buy a Ford Zodiac Mk IV Estate. Ford in Sweden didn’t want to supply him so he ordered one direct from Dagenham Motors, on Regent Street in London instead. It was built in December 1969 with Swedish specifications (left hand drive, two-circuit brakes, km/h, 3.0 V6 etc.). Extra options were power steering, automatic transmission, tow bar, caravan rear view mirrors, map reader lamp and stainless steel wheel trimmed wheel arches. John had moved to Switzerland and spent many summers caravanning with this car, in 1980 he moved back to Sweden with the car. In 1983 it was sold to the head of the dairy in Mjölby, after John died in 1987. The car was put into a barn until 1997 when it was sold to an acquaintance who then sold it to the current owner.
The car has never been crashed or significantly rusty. The upholstery is original except for the carpets that are sewn up in Linköping. The car was repainted in 2000 in its original color. Door hinges and engine bay still have their original paint. The vinyl headliner has been replaced with a new one in the original style. The Essex V6 is fully renovated and optimized on rolling roads. The front suspension, gearbox, rear axle and braking system have been renovated. Electric fan and a stainless steel exhaust system from Ferrita is fitted with receipts for almost SEK 150,000 in renovation costs
The Ford Zodiac station wagon was built not by Ford itself but by the Abbot Coach builders in Farnham, England. They rebuilt just fewer than 1,000 copies of Zephyr and Zodiac. About 15 were converted to left-hand steering. The price was almost 50% higher for an Estate than a four-door saloon. Reportedly, there are only four known versions of the left-hand drive Ford Zodiac Mk IV Estate left in the world.

Facts about the model
