"Pleasant Berliner 11 that can become even nicer with a review of the cooling and ignition systems."

Description

It was sold new in Sweden in June 1952. Through the B11 club's register, one can trace the line of ownership from 1972 to 1982. Thereafter, the car ended up in Torekov in 2008 when it was included in a purchase of a farm until the current owner took ownership in 2009. In reality, the owner's father-in-law bought the car for his first-born one-year-old grandson, Hugo, even if his father is the formal owner on paper right now. But it's Hugo's car, and perhaps he'll get a chance to practice drive a little for the sake of it before a new owner takes over after the auction. They have enthusiast-driven the B11 in meets and rallies, transported wedding couples, graduates, and other celebrants (the flags with magnetic mounts are included). It has been driven a few miles every summer season, and that type of usage is also something classic cars appreciate, as it's beneficial exercise for an old car.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

It starts easily, and the gearbox feels good, possibly the ignition timing needs checking; it sounds and feels like it's slightly off, even when adjusting with the control from the inside. The car has been endowed with a 12V electric fan (and a temperature gauge) to maintain a working temperature of a steady 90-100 degrees even at crawling speeds. The power currently comes from a battery standing in the luggage compartment, which is, to say the least, oversized for the purpose. "Had to use what was available in the garage at the time," the owner explains. With a new or refurbished radiator along with new cooling pipes, the electric fan would probably be redundant for normal use in our climate.

  • Interior condition

Fresh interior, but the seat cushion on the driver's side has a tear and a slightly worn fabric. Easy to fix. Clean and neat carpets and a nice ceiling with some faint color variation

  • Exterior condition

Presentable and nice exterior with minor marks from the passage of time. In the seventies, it was painted green and probably got its black paint in the early eighties that it has today. 1952 was the last model year with a flat trunk lid; from the summer of 1953, all models received a more bulbous trunk lid with the spare wheel inside. Many B11 enthusiasts believe that the flat trunk lid with the spare wheel and its sleek cover plate is preferable.

  • General condition

The B11 sold well in Sweden, and there is a strong community in the Swedish Citroën Club and also in the B11 club with many active vehicles. This is a fine example with much of what enthusiasts particularly appreciate; the flat trunk lid and the Normale version's generous spaces.
