For many off-road enthusiasts, the Unimog is the ultimate vehicle for those who want to test their driving skills far beyond regular roads. This tractor-registered off-road vehicle has been in northern Sweden since it was new and has had only nine previous owners. It is equipped with Mercedes’ reliable diesel engine, which runs perfectly. The vehicle naturally has engageable and disengageable four-wheel drive with separate, air-operated differential locks on both the front and rear axles. The gearbox works flawlessly, and the clutch has been refurbished and functions as it should.
The spartan interior is worn but reasonably well kept, except for the driver’s seat, which has tears in the vinyl upholstery. See photos. The brakes need to be inspected since the vehicle has been stationary for an extended period.
The heavy-duty front lifting mechanism previously carried a front-mounted snow blower that is no longer included, but with a plow or snow blower it works perfectly for winter road maintenance. In addition to the hydraulically operated lift unit, there are two additional hydraulic outlets at the front. The retrofitted cargo bed is permanently mounted.
The odometer shows 41,000 kilometers and the operating hours are 2,940.

Mechanical condition
The vehicle starts easily but currently has only a single starter battery. The clutch and gearbox function without issues. The brakes need an overhaul and the left front brake is sticking, but the vehicle is fully drivable. There is a minor oil leak from the gearbox. The windshield wipers are missing, and the vehicle has no rear PTO installed.

Interior condition
All instruments and controls are functioning. The driver’s seat needs repair due to wear-related tears. The entire cab shows patina but is otherwise in good condition.

Exterior condition
The original yellow paint is patinated but in good condition. See photos. The body and chassis are free from any major or troublesome rust. The vehicle is equipped with a small ventilation hatch in the roof.

For its age and considering its intended use, this Unimog is well maintained.

Facts about the model
The Unimog 406 is a versatile off-road truck from Mercedes-Benz, produced between 1963 and 1989. It is known for its robust frame, portal axles that provide high ground clearance, and permanent four-wheel drive with differential locks, giving it excellent capability in difficult terrain. The model was typically equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine from the OM series, often the OM 352 producing around 65–84 hp depending on year and specification. The 406 was widely used in agriculture, forestry, municipal work, and military applications thanks to its modular chassis and the ability to mount a wide range of implements at both the front and rear. It became one of the most popular Unimog models and helped shape the design of later generations in the series.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
