Description
The car has been stored in a garage since 2009, with its last inspection carried out in 2007. It appears the previous owner removed the rear bumper, possibly to repair the fuel tank, which shows some dents. The fuel pump has also been removed, but we managed to briefly start the engine using starting fluid. With a new fuel pump, it should be relatively easy to get the car running again. A general service and inspection will be needed before it can be driven, and after one final inspection, it will become inspection-exempt.
Overall, the car presents as solid and largely original, with only light surface rust around the top edges of the wings and roof rails. A good polish and wax would greatly improve its appearance. The boot space, inner wings, and underbody are clean with no structural rust issues. There is, however, a rust hole in the lower section of the left rear wing (see pictures). The chrome work is clean and shiny, and the rear bumper, mudguards, and other parts are included with the car. The mileage is most likely 147,488 km, though there is no documentation to confirm this.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
It will need a new fuel pump and a general mechanical review, after which we are confident it will be up and running again. The brakes have been freed, and the car now rolls easily, making it simple to load. It will, however, need to be transported on a trailer upon collection. The wheels and hubcaps are in good condition, though the tyres are older. Once it passes one final inspection, the car will become inspection-exempt. This is an easy car to maintain and extremely reliable, with plenty of new parts still available through VP Parts and various Volvo Amazon enthusiast groups on Facebook.
-
Interior condition
Interior is original and complete, only needing a good clean and tidy-up to look its best. The driver’s seat has been repaired with a furry patch, while the other seats, headliner, door cards, and rubber floor mats are all in good condition. The dashboard remains fully original, with its original gauges and a clean, crack-free dash pad. The boot area is also clean and well kept.
-
Exterior condition
Bodywork is generally in good condition for its age, with only light surface rust around the tops of the front wings and along the roof edges, plus a rust hole in the rear left wheel arch (see pictures). The underbody looks clean and solid.
The paintwork is mostly original, though the front wings and doors have been repainted at some point. A good polish and clean would greatly improve its appearance. The chrome trim around the car remains bright and shiny, while the fuel tank shows a few dents and may need review or repair. -
General condition
Always a popular model, this 2-door Volvo Amazon B18 offers a great opportunity for any enthusiast. With some simple fixes, it can easily be turned into a good classic to enjoy — and with a very attractive reserve price, there’s plenty of room left for future improvements.
